Blue Water Thinking is seeking a Communications/HR Support Specialist to support the Department of Veterans Affairs. This role is primarily focused on communications, coordination, reporting, and administrative support, with some support for human capital and staffing activities as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Draft and update reports, correspondence, briefing materials, memoranda, and requests for information.
- Coordinate responses and information requests from internal and external stakeholders.
- Track action items, deadlines, and deliverables and provide routine status updates.
- Collect, organize, and summarize information related to operations, planning, budget, readiness, procurement, and workforce activities.
- Maintain dashboards, trackers, and other reporting tools.
- Assist with staffing and organizational documentation, including hire, recruitment, classification, and organizational change requests.
- Support position descriptions, qualification documents, organizational charts, performance standards, and related materials as needed.
- Prepare monthly reports summarizing work completed, labor categories, and hours worked.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS).
- 3+ years of related experience in communications, program support, reporting, coordination, or similar functions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience preparing reports, correspondence, presentations, or other communications materials.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting federal government or Department of Veterans Affairs programs.
- Experience supporting human resources, human capital, staffing, or workforce management activities.
- Knowledge of OPM and VA human resources policies and procedures.
- Experience with federal staffing, position descriptions, congressional inquiries, audits, or FOIA requests.
Eligibility:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the required federal public trust clearance.
