Cloud Engineer III

The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure stability and reliability of operations in cloud by monitoring and automating the AWS infrastructure for the application. The Cloud Engineer III will design and maintain AWS infrastructure, networking, security controls, API hosting environments, monitoring tools, scalability configurations, and production deployment support.

Role and Responsibilities

• Experience with core AWS platform architecture, including Organizations, Account Design, VPC, Subnet, segmentation strategies
• Experience monitoring operations and security of EC2, container, and AWS services
• Familiarity with executing Stacks, CloudFormation, Terraform scripts
• Familiarity with network connectivity including AWS Direct Connect and AWS Site-to-Site VPNs
• Familiarity with encryption using AWS KMS
• Familiarity with logging using CloudWatch and CloudTrail
• Ability to execute implementation plans in AWS for initiatives ranging from load-balanced EC2 scaling groups to Lambda functions
• Ability to manage AWS resources and native cloud services
• Maintain continuity of operations with 100% uptime
• Experience working within a Continuous Integration environment using Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with Git, GitHub, Bitbucket versioning systems
• Ability to monitor and manage system resources and application performance
• Experience with monitoring tools such as DataDog, Kibana, Elasticsearch
• Experience with build tools such as Maven, Gradle, ANT, Grunt
• Expertise in Amazon S3 for object storage, lifecycle management, versioning, replication, and data security
• Experience with AWS Fargate for containerized application deployment and management
• Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins
• Experience with RDS, PostgreSQL, and other AWS data services
• Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell
• Experience working on Agile projects
• Experience working on large projects interacting with multiple teams

Required Experience

• 7+ years of Application Development, Maintenance, or Application Administration
• 3–5 years of experience maintaining AWS infrastructure
• 5+ years of experience with DevOps tools
• 5+ years of experience supporting applications on AWS
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Self-directed and self-motivated with ability to take charge or support as needed
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• Must have lived in the United States 3 out of the past 5 years.

Preferred Experience

• CMS healthcare experience
• Experience with large-scale cloud operations and cross-team collaboration

Education & Certification

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field
• AWS certifications
