Position Summary:

Clinical Engagement Liaison is a knowledgeable healthcare provider and patient advocate who provides on-site and alternative site education to new and existing DOJOLVI patients and Health Care Providers (HCP) on topics related to Long Chain Fatty Acid Oxidation Disorder (LC-FAOD) and DOJOLVI. The CEL will provide on label facilitation of HCP prescribed titration and dosing of patient therapy by providing information and support to patients/caregiver and HCPs but providing no clinical decision making and referring back to their HCP when appropriate. Typically, this will involve working with a multidisciplinary clinic team consisting of clinical geneticists, metabolic dietitians, nurse practitioners, genetic counselors, pharmacists and other ancillary clinic staff, as well as patients and caregivers to prevent and address barriers to effective adherence to therapy.

Work Model:

Remote: Officially documented as working full-time from home, with travel to Ultragenyx's offices or other locations on occasion as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet with patients and caregivers to educate on most effective methods and strategies for patient to understand and adhere to the therapy prescribed by the clinic, including dosing and titration
  • Support ongoing treatment adherence through personalized counseling and education
  • Engage and meet with the treating HCP/Registered Dietician and other members of the patient’s care team to implement an ongoing care plan to support patients that, among other things, mitigates side effects and improves compliance with therapy to improve health outcomes
  • Coordinate with other members of the Ultragenyx Patient Engagement Team as well as other Cross-Functional partners to ensure access
  • Attend relevant conferences, internal meetings/training, and maintain expertise encompassing all aspects of LC-FAOD disease management

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of prior patient engagement experience required
  • 3-5 years clinical educator/care coordinator experience preferred
  • BA/BS in the Life Sciences, Communications or Healthcare Management related degree preferred
  • Healthcare degree Registered Dietician or Nursing (NP/RN/BSN) preferred
  • Ability to travel 80% of the time
  • Individual must possess and portray strong emotional resilience, and calm demeanor under stress during difficult patient or medical calls or face-to-face meetings
  • Strong morality, ethics, and respect for confidentiality; including commitment to providing the recommendations from the clinic only and not providing health advice that is not approved by the clinic or on medication label.
