WaterAid (operating at wateraid.org) is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to improving access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) for the world’s poorest communities. Founded in 1981, it operates as a mission-driven platform engineered to address the critical public health crisis caused by inadequate water and sanitation infrastructure. Under the hood, WaterAid combines field-based interventions—such as drilling wells, constructing latrines, and promoting hygiene education—with advocacy and policy influence to drive systemic change. This allows vulnerable populations to break the cycle of disease, reduce child mortality, and enhance economic productivity. Backed by donations, grants, and partnerships with governments and NGOs, WaterAid’s work spans over 30 countries, prioritizing equity and sustainability in its interventions.
