Help Scout is a customer support software company founded in 2011 with a mission to treat customers like people, not tickets. With over 3+ billion conversations and 10,000+ companies using their platform, Help Scout is now reimagining its operations in an AI-native world. The company operates fully remote with 120+ teammates globally, fostering a culture of ownership, curiosity, and high-quality work.

About the Opportunity

Help Scout is building a sales-led outbound motion to attract more mid-market customers. Currently, most of their pipeline comes from inbound leads, and this role will drive the shift to an outbound-focused strategy.

They are hiring their first Business Development Representative (BDR) to join the sales team. In this role, you will:

  • Research and personalize outreach using an AI tech stack to identify prospects, including Support/Success leaders, Operations management, and company executives. You’ll tailor messaging using frameworks and templates, and review AI-generated drafts before sending.

  • Work with defined target account lists to prospect into mid-market companies based on their Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) criteria and strategic campaigns. Flag accounts that are not a good fit.

  • Execute multi-channel outreach across email, phone, LinkedIn, and video.

  • Test and iterate messaging, personas, and channels to identify what converts best, and recommend improvements to drive continuous growth.

  • Report on results by maintaining updated reports and dashboards that illustrate success rates across campaigns and performance towards targets. Share insights and recommendations with your manager.

  • Hand off cleanly to Account Executives by providing detailed briefings on sourced meetings, including contact information, account insights, and messaging strategies. Use feedback from AEs to refine hand-offs.

About You

Ideal candidates have:

  • 1 to 2+ years of experience as an outbound BDR or SDR at a B2B SaaS company, with a proven track record of meeting pipeline or opportunity targets.

  • Experience prospecting into companies with 250+ employees and tailoring messaging based on industry, job title, and additional criteria.

  • Strong communication skills for both prospects and internal colleagues.

  • Active use of AI tools in workflows for research, list building, or writing, with experience using platforms like HubSpot, Apollo, ZoomInfo, or Sales Navigator.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Coachable mindset and ambition to grow into a closing role.
