Job Description

About the Role: Alpaca is a US-headquartered self-clearing broker-dealer and brokerage infrastructure. We are seeking a Brokerage Operations Associate I to join our 100% distributed team, focusing heavily on money movements, ACAT transfers, and clearing operations.

What You'll Do

  • Ensure transactions are correctly recorded facilitating successful settlement and investigate/resolve failing transactions.
  • Process eligible securities through the DTCC processing system, including deliver orders (DOs) and Securities Payment Orders (SPOs).
  • Process ACAT free deliveries, fail reversals (FRVs), and confirm fails within Obligation Warehouse (OW) for reconciliation.
  • Investigate and resolve cash and stock reconciliation issues, creating reports on money discrepancies.
  • Ensure industry rules, regulations, and securities laws (like REG SHO/15c3) are adhered to for proper possession and control of customer securities.

What You Bring

  • 2+ years of Operations and DTCC Settlement experience.
  • Knowledge of Brokerage Clearing operations and U.S. securities back-office operations.
  • Ability to identify relationships, draw logical conclusions, and resolve discrepancies independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must possess a Series SIE and 99 (or higher) securities license, or achieve a passing result on the 99 within the first 180 days of employment.
  • Bonus: Basic knowledge of SQL or metabase, Associate's degree, and a Series 7 license.
