Backend Engineer

About the Role: Sentient Foundation is seeking a Backend Engineer to design and scale the systems that drive internal and community-facing products. You will architect and maintain the services and infrastructure that power the foundation, from large-scale distributed systems to APIs and data pipelines.

What You'll Do

• Own the end-to-end development lifecycle for new platform capabilities and integrations.
• Design, build, and operate reliable and secure services, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Build trading dashboards, exchange integrations, and treasury tooling (Safe multi-sig, Fireblocks).
• Collaborate with the research team to support and operationalize next-generation AI models and agents.

What You Bring

• 3–5+ years of professional engineering experience at tech and product-driven companies.
• Proficiency in one or more backend languages (Python, TypeScript, Go, Rust) and distributed systems.
• Fluency with AI coding tools like Claude Code or Cursor, and strong product sense.
• Interest in AI and building infrastructure for high-throughput systems.
• Bonus: Former founder or early engineer at a startup.
