This is an early-career opportunity designed for recent graduates who are excited to build a foundation in data engineering, healthcare data, and client-facing delivery. As a trusted partner to the team, you will support client adoption of Abacus’s data management offerings while developing hands-on experience in data analysis, mapping, SQL, data quality, and cloud-based data services.
We welcome applications from new graduates, including candidates currently authorized to work in the United States under F-1 Optional Practical Training (OPT). Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire.
Your day to day
- Partner with clients, implementation teams, and internal stakeholders to understand data distribution requirements.
- Perform data analysis, data profiling, and data mapping to support accurate client outputs.
- Build and maintain data distribution extracts, SQL queries, and scripts with guidance from senior team members.
- Support optimization of data extract scripts for performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Validate outputs, investigate data issues, and contribute to root cause analysis when discrepancies arise.
- Document requirements, workflows, data mappings, and technical decisions to support repeatable delivery.
- Participate in client meetings, project discussions, and internal working sessions to learn requirements and communicate progress.
- Collaborate with teammates to solve data challenges and contribute to a high-performing, inclusive, and supportive team culture.
- Bring curiosity and ideas for process improvements, automation, and more efficient ways of working.
What you bring to the team
- Recent graduate with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or equivalent academic, project, internship, or professional experience relevant to data engineering, analytics, computer science, information systems, or a related technical field.
- Strong SQL programming skills, with the ability to write queries, analyze data, and troubleshoot results.
- Exposure to data analysis, data profiling, reporting, data mapping, or data validation through coursework, internships, projects, research, or prior work experience.
- Interest in healthcare data and systems, including domains such as membership, claims, provider, or related healthcare data sets.
- Ability to work with large or complex data sets and apply analytical thinking to solve business and technical problems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to perform root cause analysis on data, processes, and outputs.
- Clear communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage work in a fast-moving environment.
- Curiosity, humility, and a willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and healthcare data concepts.
- Desire to contribute individually while also collaborating closely with others.
What we would like to see, but not required
- Experience or coursework involving AWS, Azure, Databricks, Spark, or other cloud-based data platforms.
- Experience or exposure to Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouse technologies.
- Academic, internship, or project experience involving performance tuning, query optimization, ETL, or data pipeline development.

Abacus Insights
View Company ProfileAbacus Insights (operating under abacusinsights.com, legally Abacus Insights, Inc.) is the premier, enterprise-grade healthcare data usability platform, compliance pioneer, and health plan orchestration powerhouse engineered to act as the definitive, high-velocity data curation, interoperability compliance, and analytical enrichment layer for healthcare payers and health insurance networks across the United States. Founded in 2017 by visionary physician entrepreneur Minalkumar Patel, MD alongside co-founder Gokul Varadharaj, the company completely eliminates the severe systemic friction of modern health plan administration—where crucial member claims, clinical notes, and electronic medical record (EMR) data remain trapped in legacy, siloed infrastructure, driving up costs and delaying medical necessity determinations—by deploying its purpose-built cloud-native data architecture. Moving far beyond traditional, passive electronic data interchange pipelines or generalized big data warehouses, Abacus Insights natively unifies automated multi-source clinical data ingestion, real-time validation scoring, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) interoperability compliance enforcement, and AI-accelerated predictive analytics into a high-availability healthcare operating workspace. Managing comprehensive health logs for over 23 million commercial and government-insured members, the platform transforms messy, unstandardized records into clean, standardized datasets. Reflecting its immense category leadership and market validation, the high-growth software-as-a-service (SaaS) giant has secured over $94.9 million in institutional venture capital from elite investors including CRV, .406 Ventures, Echo Health Ventures, and major healthcare groups like Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield. Under the hood, its technology framework utilizes an advanced data lakehouse core built on Databricks and Snowflake architectures, incorporating a structured bronze-silver-gold medallion architecture, natural language processing (NLP) models for parsing unstructured EMR profiles, and strict SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA-compliant data pipelines configured to distribute secure real-time SQL analytical feeds to internal teams with absolute execution correctness. What sets Abacus Insights apart is its uncompromising dedication to replacing fragile, high-maintenance custom data mappings with structured data usability, upstream provider data normalization, and immediate payer leverage; by bridging the gap between high-volume, highly regulated relational healthcare streams and predictive digital health workflows, the enterprise remains a definitive cornerstone of modern algorithmic health tech and global payer infrastructure transformation.
