About the Role

This internship is designed for students entering their junior or senior year of a Marketing, Communications, Business, English, or related program, as well as recent graduates looking to gain hands-on experience in AI-powered marketing. You'll work alongside experienced Product Marketing and Content professionals while owning projects that have real visibility and measurable business impact.

We're looking for a curious, AI-native Marketing Intern to help us improve Nylas' visibility across AI-powered search and answer engines. You'll work alongside Product Marketing and Content to analyze how AI models surface information about Nylas, identify opportunities to improve our presence, and implement content optimizations that drive measurable results.

This isn't a traditional marketing internship. You'll combine competitive research, AI experimentation, SEO fundamentals, content strategy, and analytics to help influence how large language models understand and recommend Nylas. If you're excited by emerging AI technologies, enjoy experimenting with new tools, and want to work on real projects with tangible business impact, we'd love to meet you.

Internship Details

  • Schedule: Part-time, approximately 20 hours per week

  • Duration: Approximately 6–12 weeks, with flexibility based on your academic schedule and availability

  • Location: Remote within the San Francisco Bay Area or Denver Metro Area to support collaboration with our distributed Marketing team.

  • Working Hours: Flexible, with the expectation that you'll have overlap with the team for meetings and collaboration

  • Start Date: Flexible based on candidate availability and academic calendar

  • Compensation: $22 - $25 per hour

What You'll Do:

  • Answer engine visibility

    • Run competitive queries in Profound to see where Nylas shows up across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and Gemini, and where it doesn't

    • Track Nylas citation share against Cronofy, Recall AI, Unipile, Cal.com, Aurinko, and Unified

    • Flag prompts where competitors are being cited but Nylas isn't, and investigate why

    • Summarize findings and present trends, opportunities, and recommendations to the marketing team.

  • Page optimization for AI citation

    • Audit existing pages for the issues that keep LLMs from citing them: self-promotion bias, thin competitor context, outdated pricing, weak FAQ coverage, missing schema markup

    • Recommend and implement fixes on high-priority pages (product comparison guides, use-case content, solution pages)

    • Measure the impact of content improvements using Profound and other SEO metrics, iterating based on results.

  • Content collaboration

    • Partner with the content team on new blog posts and pages, feeding in AEO insights from Profound

    • Contribute prompts and queries to test the AI answer landscape for topics before we publish

    • Keep SEO fundamentals in view since traditional search still matters

    • Collaborate with Product Marketing and Content teams to identify new opportunities for AI-first content.

What You'll Bring:

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, English, or a related field.

    • Undergraduate student (Junior or Senior preferred) or recent graduate within the last 12 months

  • Hands-on experience with LLM tools: ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity. You should already use these to think, learn, and get work done.

  • Curiosity about how AI-generated answers are sourced, ranked, and cited—and an eagerness to experiment with improving brand visibility.

  • Familiarity with SEO tools (Google Analytics, SEMrush, Ahrefs) is a plus

  • Exposure to AEO platforms (Profound, Otterly, Peec AI) is a bigger plus. Review Profound University.

  • Clear writing and comfort working across a distributed marketing team

  • Comfortable learning new tools quickly and working in a fast-paced, AI-first environment.

What Nylas Offers:

  • Work on an emerging discipline at the intersection of AI, search, and developer marketing.

  • Gain hands-on experience with industry-leading AI visibility and SEO platforms.

  • Partner with experienced marketers and content creators on projects with measurable business impact.

Nylas is the premier, enterprise-grade communications API platform, email productivity specialist, and conversational data infrastructure powerhouse engineered to operate as the definitive, single-integration abstraction layer for global email, calendar, and contacts networks. The company completely eliminates the severe systemic friction of modern application connectivity—where software developers face fractured sync states, complex multi-vendor OAuth authentication flows, brittle IMAP/SMTP edge cases, and distinct schema variations across Microsoft Office 365, Google Workspace, and Exchange—by deploying a universal, high-concurrency cloud API ecosystem. Moving far beyond traditional, passive webhook relays or basic email parsing tools, Nylas natively unifies real-time bi-directional email syncing, complex scheduling and booking engines, automated contact extraction, and generative AI-powered parsing capabilities into a single high-availability developer workspace. Trusted by over 250,000 developers and hyper-growth enterprises—including Upwork, Wix, Ceridian, and Freshworks—the platform processes billions of API requests daily, empowering corporate applications to securely surface messaging telemetry, minimize user churn, and automate workflows with production-hardened precision. Under the hood, its sophisticated technical core boasts military-grade security profiles, orchestrating automated sync pipelines, real-time webhooks, and strict data governance protocols compliant with SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA, and GDPR mandates. Backed by over $175 million in growth funding from tier-one institutional investors like Tiger Global, 8VC, and Slack Fund, the firm sets itself apart through its uncompromising dedication to replacing ancient communications architecture with absolute developer velocity; by bridging the gap between legacy enterprise mail servers and modern, scalable applications, Nylas remains the undisputed cornerstone of the modern communications API landscape.
