About WelbeHealth: WelbeHealth (WelbeHealth.com) is an industry-defining healthcare provider dedicated to serving our communities’ most vulnerable senior populations through the comprehensive PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) operational model. Grounded in a pioneering spirit, shared intention, and the courage to love, our participant-focused teams leverage state-of-the-art technology to optimize clinical workflows. We build highly reliable digital solutions that empower clinical squads, enhance operational efficiency, and drive superior health outcomes for elderly participants across California.
Position Overview
We are seeking an exceptionally innovative, builder-minded, and hands-on AI Engineer to join our centralized data innovation group under a permanent, full-time remote framework open exclusively to candidates based in California. Operating as a critical applied AI specialist, you will step up to claim absolute application building, retrieval pipeline orchestration, and private cloud deployment accountability to transform how care teams navigate patient profiles. Shifting completely away from fundamental model pre-training, core database tuning, or low-stakes administrative scripting, you will run an active multi-tier Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), context optimization, and automated agentic workflow laboratory—partnering face-to-face with healthcare data scientists, clinical systems architects, DevOps pipelines leads, and regional operational stakeholders. This position requires an engineering authority with 3+ years of applied AI depth who models intelligent applications fluidly natively using AI Engineer and Python frameworks, evaluates frontier model APIs cleanly under strict medical data safety guidelines, and directs secure cloud-native services confidently to support multi-step healthcare workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Applied Solution Architecture: Build, test, and deploy production-ready AI-powered applications natively utilizing AI Engineer frameworks, converting PACE business requirements into rich, highly performant user context modules.
- RAG Engineering and Grounding: Architect and scale comprehensive Retrieval-Augmented Generation systems, optimizing vector databases, custom embedding strategies, text chunking layers, and retrieval evaluations to ground model outputs in proprietary records.
- Full Development Lifecycle Ownership: Drive the end-to-end engineering trace for new AI use cases, managing assets independently from early ideation and rapid POC generation through to rigorous cross-validation and live scale deployment.
- Agentic Workflow Triage: Research, construct, and integrate goal-oriented agentic networks using modern frameworks (such as LangGraph, LangChain, or Copilot Studio) to guide systems toward automated multi-step processing execution.
- Secure Cloud Containerization: Containerize and deploy AI applications inside private cloud clusters (primarily Azure), configuring Docker containers, private endpoints, managed identities, and secure VNET networking boundaries.
- Frontier Model Evaluation: Assess, benchmark, and integrate emerging models across the commercial API landscape (OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini), selecting appropriate weights based on latency cost, throughput, and HIPAA data standards.
- AIOps and CI/CD Governance: Enforce extreme application runtime stability by implementing MLOps best practices, structured model versioning controls, automated verification sets, and automated Azure DevOps release loops.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent technical or quantitative field of study (a Master’s degree is preferred).
- A minimum of 3 years of verified professional history operating as a software engineer, systems developer, or technical data specialist with an explicit applied AI focus.
- Core Technical Specialization: Proven background designing, deploying, and testing production-grade RAG loops, featuring deep familiarity with vector databases and embedding architectures.
- Advanced, masterful programming proficiency in Python for rapid application building, multi-tier API integration, and clean data processing pipeline composition.
- Hands-on practical development experience configuring enterprise cloud resources natively within secure environment panels (such as Azure AI Foundry, Key Vault, and private endpoints).
- Familiarity implementing automated build, test, and deployment configurations through modern CI/CD modules (such as Azure DevOps).
- Excellent communication and documentation attributes, allowing you to bridge technical AI engineering parameters smoothly with clinical operations.
- Location Context: Position operates under strict remote geographic parameters open exclusively to qualified technical talent residing permanently within California, USA.
Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)
- Prior experience building automated data context networks, processing medical health summaries, or navigating strictly regulated healthcare compliance frameworks.
- Familiarity with alternative multi-agent software engineering frameworks or custom prompt validation parameters.
What We Offer
- Highly Competitive Applied AI Compensation Blueprint: A definitive annual base salary range of $120,164.59 - $158,617.26 USD, supplemented by structured performance-based corporate bonus layers.
- 100% remote workspace parameters across California, encouraging an exceptionally healthy personal work-life balance.
- Premium health care coverage benefits including comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance lines.
- Robust retirement protection vehicles featuring an integrated corporate 401(k) savings track with company matching incentives.
- Generous paid time-off provisions encompassing 17 days of personal time off (PTO), 12 observed annual corporate holidays, and 6 paid sick days.
- The ultimate professional sandbox to lead applied AI innovation across an organization that values its staff, building high-impact platforms that directly optimize medical care for vulnerable seniors.
