Core Responsibilities
This consultative account management role focuses on retaining and expanding a portfolio of established B2B client relationships. Key responsibilities include:
Own and grow a defined portfolio of existing B2B accounts, ensuring retention, renewal, and expansion.
Build strong relationships with client stakeholders, understanding their business priorities, challenges, and evolving needs.
Identify and develop relevant upsell and cross-sell opportunities across research, diagnostics, advisory services, software, and expert resources.
Create and execute strategic account plans that align client engagement with renewal and growth objectives.
Engage clients proactively well ahead of renewal cycles, identify potential risks, and establish compelling business cases for continued or expanded partnerships.
Maintain a consistent cadence of proactive outreach, account reviews, follow-ups, and stakeholder engagement.
Translate complex client requirements into clear next steps, connecting clients with appropriate internal experts and resources.
Maintain accurate account, activity, pipeline, and forecasting information within the CRM.
Monitor performance against retention, growth, and activity objectives, using coaching and feedback to continuously improve results.
Collaborate with internal teams and subject-matter experts to strengthen client relationships and advance account opportunities.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
At least 3 years of experience in B2B account management, client success, relationship management, consultative sales, or a related field, with demonstrated experience retaining and developing client relationships.
Experience managing a portfolio, territory, or book of business against defined renewal and revenue-growth targets.
Strong discovery, questioning, and active-listening skills to uncover emerging client needs and commercial opportunities.
Ability to translate complex information into clear, relevant, and commercially meaningful client conversations.
Strong organizational, planning, prioritization, and follow-through skills across multiple accounts and competing priorities.
Comfortable working with CRM systems and maintaining accurate, timely account and pipeline information.
Collaborative mindset and sound judgment when involving internal specialists or subject-matter experts.
Post-secondary education or an equivalent combination of relevant education and professional experience.
Strong relationship-building skills, responsiveness, curiosity, resilience, and a solutions-oriented approach.
Ability to work independently, take ownership of goals, monitor performance, identify risks early, and remain receptive to coaching and feedback.
