About Paddle: Paddle is a premier, internationally recognized financial technology pioneer, developer infrastructure champion, and SaaS scaling innovator on an absolute mission to protect digital product companies from the friction of modern payments management. Instead of forcing software companies to assemble, integrate, and manually maintain an incredibly complex stack of fragmented payments-related applications, compliance engines, subscription tools, and global tax calculators, Paddle serves as a comprehensive, unified Merchant of Record (MoR) for its clients. By taking away 100% of the structural pain associated with cross-border payment processing, currency localized pathing, and global data regulation hygiene, Paddle delivers an online payment experience that is significantly faster, safer, cheaper, and more scalable. Backed by elite global venture firms including KKR, FTV Capital, Kindred, Notion, and 83North, Paddle proudly powers more than 5,000 scaling software sellers across 245 countries and territories worldwide. Operating under a collaborative, high-trust “digital-first” philosophy that values extreme team autonomy, Paddle provides high-agency product designers with an uncompromised remote canvas to leverage state-of-the-art visual components, direct platform-wide design systems, and engineer conversion-focused merchant interfaces safely across the United Kingdom.
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical, systems-minded Senior Product Designer to join our core centralized Core Experience product collective in a full-time remote capacity across the United Kingdom. Operating in this critical horizontal leadership track, you will step up to claim true individual strategic operational and architectural accountability for designing the foundational connective tissue that unifies Paddle’s global platform—overseeing the end-to-end seller onboarding flow, registration systems, and overall platform ergonomics. Shifting completely away from routine single-surface pixel tweaking, legacy template skinning, or basic administrative layout adjustments, you will act as a principal experience architect—partnering face-to-face with cross-functional engineering, product management, and data analysis cells to ensure our platform feels effortless. This position requires an enterprise SaaS or fintech product design veteran who models highly clear interaction systems fluidly natively using UI/UX Design principles, structures complex interface patterns smoothly natively using Figma primitives, and commands deep design system governance and documentation workflows confidently under early-stage scaling ambiguity.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Foundational Experience Design: Direct, design, and iteratively refine Paddle’s foundational B2B merchant interfaces—specifically driving the user research, interactive discovery, and production-grade delivery of our global sign-up, user onboarding, and core account navigation systems cleanly natively utilizing UI/UX Design principles.
- Design System Leadership and Vision: Own, scale, and lead Paddle’s centralized cross-product design system from a design perspective, conceptualizing new semantic tokens, authoring pattern usage guidelines, and engineering high-quality visual components natively leveraging Figma.
- Horizontal UX Platform Alignment: Serve as the principal horizontal design partner across all independent vertical product squads, establishing universal design principles, information architectures, and responsive layout defaults to ensure uncompromised consistency across growing product lines.
- AI and Integration Experience Design: Actively contribute to our advanced integration and machine-learning tracks, researching user interactions to map where generative AI tools can meaningfully solve developer friction vs. where they create workflow noise.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration Loop: Partner in lockstep with distributed Frontend Engineering and Product Management leads to define complex problem spaces, scope developmental appetites, write component specifications, and enforce a relentless design quality bar.
- Data-Driven User Feedback Synthesis: Use mixed-methods qualitative research, data analytics, and merchant feedback loops to validate design decisions, iteratively removing user friction from complex B2B workspaces used by thousands of SaaS businesses.
- Persuasive Creative Storytelling: Use high-fidelity prototypes, system diagrams, and clear user stories to articulate design logic and build cross-department alignment for foundational, cross-cutting infrastructure initiatives.
- Design Team Mentorship and Critiques: Foster an inclusive culture of engineering craft, mentoring peer designers through constructive feedback, shared technical reviews, and collaborative design system governance blocks.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of verified professional history running advanced digital product design, user experience layout mapping, human-computer interaction scoping, web application architecture, or fintech consulting.
- Mandatory Design System Experience: Proven, documented history successfully owning, building, or scaling an enterprise-tier design system, demonstrating extensive background designing modular components, writing usage documentation, and driving adoption across distributed engineering units.
- Expert-tier capability formatting complex web app workflows, setting typography rules, and optimizing user paths natively utilizing UI/UX Design strategies (backed by a portfolio showcasing clear visual clarity in complex B2B domains).
- Practical operational familiarity configuring interactive prototypes, managing auto-layouts, and structuring atomic libraries natively using Figma software suites (alongside hands-on comfort or agility adapting next-generation toolsets like Claude Code inside production design cycles).
- Deep, authoritative technical command of responsive design parameters, browser layout constraints, web accessibility regulations (WCAG conformance models), and microservice data displays.
- Outstanding written, verbal, and visual presentation traits in fluent English, enabling absolute confidence and clear consultative influence when defending foundational design decisions before stakeholders at all corporate levels.
- Comfortable managing early-stage ambiguity independently, with a proactive self-starting execution philosophy that balances technical system rules with user empathy.
- Location Context: Position open to qualified product designers based permanently and resident within the United Kingdom to operate under a digital-first, work-from-home remote framework, with secondary optional physical access to our corporate hubs.
Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)
- Prior commercial product design history operating explicitly within the high-performance fields of international fintech software, merchant processing layers, multi-currency checkout SaaS setups, or API-first developer tool networks.
- Direct experience refining multi-step B2B user onboarding conversion flows or platform setup wizards.
- An outcome-driven personal philosophy rooted in high creative curiosity, an obsession with clean system logic, and a passionate drive to build payment platforms that remove invisible barriers for global builders.
What We Offer
- Vetted United Kingdom FinTech Salaried Blueprint: An highly competitive full-time base salary package calibrated precisely to evaluate your UI craft authority, system-design depth, and horizontal execution velocity under a flexible remote structure, supplemented by corporate stock options.
- The exceptional professional canvas to directly direct, shape, and engine-manage the foundational design systems power-routing payments for over 5,000 scaling software sellers worldwide.
- Profound work-from-home remote parameters offering a 100% digital-first framework across the UK, complete scheduling trust, and zero physical geographic office commuting friction.
- Access to elite vacation and family provisions, featuring an uncompromised **Unlimited Holiday Allocation** policy paired with 4 months of fully paid universal parental leave regardless of gender.
- Access to elite personal and career enrichment track tools, including an **Annual Learning Fund** to finance external training, personal mentorship tracks, and constant exposure to new scaling challenges.
- Immediate baseline access to premium comprehensive corporate wellness protections, providing robust private healthcare benefits and dedicated mental well-being initiatives.
