Staff Software Engineer (Full Stack / Node.js)

Kasa is a leading tech-enabled hospitality brand building an operating system that optimizes revenue and guest experiences. We are looking for a Staff Full-Stack Engineer to lead the design and development of critical systems powering our pricing strategies and third-party integrations (Formula RC Team). In this role, you will take ownership of complex architectural decisions, mentor the team, and write high-quality code that sets the bar for technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: Drive architectural initiatives (e.g., introducing new frameworks like GraphQL), define SLAs for critical components, and encourage adoption across teams.
• System Ownership: Take full ownership of the systems you lead—from troubleshooting to optimization—ensuring reliability, scalability, and uninterrupted live operations.
• Mentorship: Mentor engineers through knowledge-sharing sessions, hands-on guidance, and effective delegation to amplify team impact.
• Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for product areas, proactively scoping complex work with cross-functional partners.
• Coding: Write, review, and maintain high-quality, well-tested code that adheres to industry standards.

Requirements

• Experience: 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in a Staff or Senior engineering role.
• Backend Stack: Strong proficiency in Node.js-based web application frameworks (e.g., Nest.js).
• Cloud Architecture: Extensive experience with AWS (Lambda, Fargate, ECS, EKS) and cloud-based architectures.
• Databases: In-depth knowledge of relational and non-relational databases (MongoDB, MySQL, Postgres, DynamoDB).
• Soft Skills: Strong EQ and ability to foster collaboration; proven expertise in leading complex, cross-functional projects.
• Travel: Willingness to travel 1-2x per quarter to San Francisco or Hungary.
