About Incode: Incode is an elite, Series B tech unicorn ($1.25B valuation) and a recognized industry leader in the Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Identity Verification. We are on a mission to completely rewrite how the world proves identity online, engineering world-class authentication suites that power global digital trust. Trusted by marquee international institutions, fintechs, marketplaces, and governments—including Citi, Airbnb, Block, Chime, Sixt, and TikTok—Incode leverages advanced artificial intelligence platforms to deliver friction-free experiences while defeating fraud and safeguarding data privacy.

Position Overview

We are seeking a high-agency, deeply technical Staff Engineer to play a pivotal role in shaping the technical foundation behind our mission-critical distributed services. Embedded within a high-ownership engineering environment, you will own and drive the long-term architectural roadmap for foundational platforms powering fraud detection, real-time data processing, and biometric data validations at scale. This is a technical leadership role requiring a systems thinker who bridges high-level software strategy with elite, hands-on production-grade implementation, collaborating seamlessly across our cross-border teams in Tel Aviv, the US, and Serbia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Core Platform Architecture: Define and drive the multi-year technical roadmap for foundational platform modules handling biometric validation, real-time risk profiling, and complex identity verification grids.
  • Distributed Systems Engineering: Design, evolve, and scale fault-tolerant, high-throughput distributed systems, optimizing real-time streaming and batch processing pipelines leveraging **Kafka, Flink, and Spark**.
  • Cross-Team Technical Governance: Lead complex, multi-geography architectural initiatives across global engineering divisions, authoring crisp system design blueprints, tracking technical trade-offs, and building team consensus.
  • Hands-On Coding Mastery: Stay deeply involved in the day-to-day software lifecycle, contributing robust, production-grade backend code using modern system environments while setting coding standards by example.
  • AI-Driven Innovation: Pioneer the adoption of AI agentic workflows and LLM-powered systems throughout the internal engineering lifecycle, integrating automated code analysis into production topologies and developer tooling frameworks.
  • Cross-Functional Stakeholder Alignment: Partner alongside Product Managers and business leads to guide ideas from concept down to production delivery, ensuring system scalability mirrors real-world customer usage bounds.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 15+ years of verified professional software engineering experience, with a proven tracking record of success operating in a Staff Engineer, Principal Developer, or Core Systems Architect track.
  • Deep, authoritative backend development mastery using JVM-based technologies (**Java, Kotlin, Scala**) and/or **Go (Golang)** systems code.
  • Expert-level command over distributed systems fundamentals, microservices infrastructure design, scalability patterns, data caching strategies, resilience matrices, and fault-tolerance rules.
  • Direct production experience building and running large-scale event streaming pipelines utilizing Kafka alongside processing engines like Flink or Spark.
  • Demonstrated background leading cross-functional, highly distributed engineering initiatives seamlessly across multiple international time zones.
  • Exposure to implementing or managing LLM-driven automation loops or AI agentic patterns within production software environments.
  • Outstanding technical storytelling and communication mechanics, with a native ability to translate complex database or network topologies into scannable clarity for multi-disciplinary stakeholders.
  • Location Context: 100% remote-first workspace infrastructure flexibility open to qualified software architects based anywhere Globally.

Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)

  • Prior engineering background building data solutions inside fraud detection networks, identity compliance setups, risk analysis models, or fintech transaction engines.
  • Full-stack development exposure, explicitly highlighting frontend frameworks such as Node.js and modern JavaScript patterns.
  • Background operating within cybersecurity sectors, including hands-on familiarity with applied cryptography, privacy-preserving infrastructure components, or secure computation workflows.

What We Offer

  • The exceptional opportunity to design canonical authentication architectures that future-proof digital transactions for billions of users across continents.
  • Highly competitive premium base salary complemented by lucrative venture-backed corporate equity structures and stock options packages.
  • Comprehensive health care provisions, including premium regional medical, dental, and vision insurance portfolios.
  • Highly flexible working hours framework paired with an Open Vacation Policy for true task tracking autonomy.
  • A remote-friendly, distributed workspace driven by founder-level autonomy and a continuous feedback performance culture.
  • Streamlined applicant evaluation loops and milestone updates processed securely via custom Greenhouse ATS integration networks.
