Staff Accountant - India Exchange

Job Description

About the Role: Coinbase is looking for a highly motivated Accountant to join our team and play a key role in our continued growth and achievement of operational excellence. The Staff Accountant, India Exchange, must possess strong accounting, operational and, an ability to communicate and work with various teams inside of Finance (such as Tax, FP&A, Business Finance, Treasury, Financial Reporting, Payroll and Accounts Payable), and a desire to make a meaningful impact on a dynamic, high-growth technology company.

What you'll be doing

  • Partnering with the Global Accounting team to prepare the assigned month-end and quarter-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate book closure.
  • Prepare and review financial statements for global consolidated audits and international subsidiary statutory reporting.
  • Maintain international subsidiaries' parallel books of accounts in accordance with local country GAAP, ensuring appropriate reconciliations.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Payroll, and Source-to-Pay teams to ensure accurate accounting and financial reporting.
  • Coordinate preparation of regulatory filings, and tax reporting for external stakeholders (auditors, regulators, etc.).
  • Support the India entity's liquidity management in close coordination with the Treasury team.
  • Monitor the safeguarding of customer funds in accordance with applicable policies and oversee related reconciliation procedures.

What we look for in you

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent professional qualification required.
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with a Big 4/professional services firm or a publicly traded fintech/SaaS company.
  • Expert knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and Ind AS, with strong understanding of SOX compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in Indian regulatory frameworks, including the Companies Act, Income Tax Act, GST regulations, and FEMA.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.

Nice to haves

  • Experience working in Netsuite, FloQast and Google Suite.
  • Basic knowledge of digital assets and the crypto economy.
  • Basic SQL knowledge and experience with reporting/analytics tools (Snowflake, Looker, etc.).
