Position Overview

We are seeking a highly sophisticated, visionary Sr. Engineer, AI Developer Tools to join our core R&D engineering division in a full-time remote capacity within the United States. In this strategic, high-impact platform engineering leadership role, you will own the architectural design, orchestration, and structural deployment of our next-generation AI-driven developer tooling and automation frameworks. Moving far beyond abstract tech experiments, you will build and scale internal AI engines—such as automated code reviewers, unit test generation platforms, migration copilots, and smart CI/CD integrations—to systematically tackle technical debt and eliminate manual engineering bottlenecks. This seat demands a technical authority who can optimize developer velocity, configure safe AI governance guardrails, and translate complex developer experience metrics into clear business value for executive stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • AI Developer Platform Architecture: Design, implement, and maintain high-performance internal AI developer toolsets, including automated test generation, code reviews, and deployment copilots.
  • Monolithic Component Refactoring: Spearhead large-scale, AI-assisted refactoring initiatives to break down legacy platform systems, reduce production incidents, and modernize core data architectures.
  • Safe Integration & Governance Guardrails: Define robust evaluation frameworks, code security standards, and operational guardrails to securely integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) into the daily software development lifecycle.
  • Modernization Pipeline Acceleration: Build automated migration workflows to accelerate enterprise engineering updates, including widespread AWS SDK migrations and Java 21 platform upgrades.
  • AI Metrics & KPI Scorecard Design: Establish quantitative evaluation frameworks, track adoption rates, and report code quality improvements (such as ticket closure rates, regression bug drops, and review cycle latencies) to R&D leadership.
  • Generative Tooling Standardization: Evaluate, bench-test, and deploy generative developer utilities at scale, integrating platforms like Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and AWS Q into standardized engineering processes.
  • Cross-Functional Vision Articulation: Serve as the connective technical tissue across engineering cells, communicating complex architectural trade-offs, build-vs-buy decisions, and system latency metrics smoothly to senior stakeholders.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of verified professional history running enterprise software development, platform engineering, or distributed systems infrastructure.
  • 3+ years of direct experience leading the construction of internal engineering tooling, automated developer assistance, or large-scale systems modernization efforts.
  • Proven, non-experimental background successfully designing and deploying production-ready AI-powered developer tools or workflow automation components that improved engineering velocity.
  • Deep technical command over modern enterprise development runtimes and compiled languages, with strong proficiency across Java, TypeScript, and cloud infrastructure architectures.
  • Hands-on operational familiarity with contemporary generative AI development utilities and transformer integrations, primarily Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or AWS Q.
  • Strong quantitative understanding of AI model evaluation across critical dimensions, including output quality, operational cost, inference latency, and source data security.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication mechanics, with a demonstrated capability to present complex infrastructure value to non-technical business partners.
  • Location Context: Full-time remote-first operational parameters open exclusively to qualified technical leads permanently based anywhere within the United States.

Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)

  • Prior experience building or scaling software infrastructure within an enterprise-scale SaaS company, high-throughput Customer Data Platform (CDP), or data governance network.
  • Familiarity with GitOps workflows, progressive delivery patterns, or automated static code analysis utilities.
  • Possession of advanced cloud engineering or software architecture certifications.

What We Offer

  • Executive Compensation Framework: A competitive annual base salary scale calibrated between $145,000 – $185,000 USD, supplemented by variable bonuses, new-hire equity grants, and corporate stock options.
  • The exceptional technical canvas to directly architect, code, and lead the AI transformation roadmap for an enterprise R&D organization.
  • Profound work-from-home remote parameters providing an award-winning remote-first ecosystem, home office equipment purchase stipends, and absolute scheduling autonomy.
  • Comprehensive health protections encompassing market-competitive medical coverage, dental insurance, and vision care plans for you and your family.
  • An immediate company-matching 401(k) retirement plan, flexible paid time-off parameters, extended paid parental leave, 11 paid holidays annually, and a dedicated Healium wellness break.
  • A culture committed to community impact, offering 15 hours of paid work time annually dedicated strictly to volunteer programs and philanthropic activities.
