Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled, flights-focused full-stack or backend Software Engineer to spearhead the structural expansion of our proprietary flight routing and real-time booking engine. Joining forces with our resident flights expert to shape the core Flights & Loyalty team, you will own the end-to-end development of feature releases spanning the entire booking funnel—from initial flight search filters to secure ticket creation and asynchronous fulfillment. This role demands an engineer with deep production experience in Python who is deeply immersed in credit card points, travel hacking mechanics, and flight inventory structures, capable of integrating directly with legacy systems and global distribution frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Funnel Feature Architecture: Architect, implement, and maintain scalable platform features across the complete flight booking funnel, ensuring elite-tier code quality from search results down to fulfillment tracking.
- Award Ticket Pricing Logic: Code, optimize, and scale the transactional backend logic governing award ticket inventory pricing matrices and dynamic reward point transfers to international carrier networks.
- GDS Integration Management: Build secure platform connections with primary Global Distribution Systems (GDS) including Amadeus and Sabre, safely navigating complex custom communication protocols and dense data schemas.
- Database Layer Integrity: Construct optimized datastore models and fast query systems using PostgreSQL to manage user rewards history and real-time flight data.
- Full-Stack Interface Delivery: Enhance and optimize internal workflows and user-facing features using modern full-stack tools including TypeScript and React.
- Cloud Services Orchestration: Support and maintain remote application environments using relevant AWS services, development libraries, and software development kits (SDKs).
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 6+ years of verified professional software development history building highly reliable, production-grade applications, with recent mastery writing production Python.
- Demonstrated operational experience integrating with and configuring **Global Distribution Systems (GDS) such as Amadeus or Sabre**.
- Hands-on system proficiency using your choice of frameworks across **Python, Django, TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL, and AWS**.
- Personal passion for credit card rewards, travel hacking optimization, flight search engines, airline loyalty programs, and historical familiarity with communities like FlyerTalk.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, with a clear understanding of data structure models, distributed systems scaling, and asynchronous event loops.
- Outstanding problem-solving capabilities, technical aptitude, and verbal/written communication mechanics.
- Location Context: 100% remote-first full-time operational flexibility open exclusively to qualified software engineers permanently based inside the United States.
- Interview Requirement: Absolute personal capacity to travel to San Francisco, New York, Chicago, or Austin for an onsite interview (all travel costs completely covered by Taekus).
Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)
- Prior experience building custom web scrapers or indexing data layers specifically for flight pricing matrix streams.
- Familiarity handling premium financial services software, transactional compliance standards, or card issuer network protocols.
What We Offer
- Competitive Base Compensation: $175,000 – $230,000 USD annualized, calibrated precisely against your specific GDS integration and backend systems depth.
- A lucrative, high-signal **Stock Option Plan** ensuring shared long-term participation in our expansion milestones.
- Elite enterprise benefits package encompassing comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance structures.
- Robust retirement protection programs via a 401(k) plan featuring a **5% company match**.
- A flexible vacation policy deployed inside a fully remote, high-caliber workspace built around asynchronous output and extreme technical ownership.
