Senior WordPress Engineer

Syde is the biggest WordPress agency in Europe and a Gold Agency Partner of WordPress VIP. With over 130 employees in 40+ countries, we create sophisticated enterprise projects for clients like SAP and PayPal. We are looking for a Senior WordPress Engineer to handle full-stack development, coding custom features, and participating in architecture definitions.

Key Responsibilities

• Full Stack Development: Develop features, enhancements, and bug fixes for enterprise-level website projects using Object-Oriented PHP and JavaScript (React).
• Modular Architecture: Create modular, extensible solutions (plugins, packages, blocks, components) for reuse across projects.
• Quality Assurance: Perform code reviews, ensure cross-browser support, and improve automated test coverage (PHPUnit, Jest).
• CI/CD & Deployment: Maintain and deploy new features using a controlled CI/CD workflow.
• Client Communication: Communicate technical requirements and progress directly to clients, clarifying issues and reporting status.

Requirements

• Core Stack: Solid knowledge of object-oriented PHP, JavaScript (specifically React), HTML, and CSS.
• Tooling: Familiarity with package managers (Composer, NPM/Yarn) and Git version control.
• Language: Professional level English (B1 or up) is required for communication.
• Soft Skills: Self-motivated, organized, and confident in communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• WordPress Internals: Experience with Gutenberg Blocks, WooCommerce, and WordPress Multisite.
• Modern Tech: Experience with TypeScript, GraphQL, Docker, and modern PHP frameworks.
• Testing: Knowledge of automated testing tools like PHPUnit, Psalm, ESLint, or Jest.
