Position Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical, detail-oriented Senior Tax Analyst to join our core centralized Finance collective in a full-time remote capacity across the United States. Working as a critical component of our growing, collaborative Tax and Accounting team, you will step up to claim true individual operational accountability for directing U.S. sales and use tax compliance, multi-state workpaper architectures, and tax account ledger reconciliation profiles. Shifting completely away from basic clerical data entry or passive manual invoice checking, you will operate as a principal corporate tax architect—partnering cross-functionally across Legal, Finance, Product, Operations, and Engineering teams to minimize financial risk and support data-backed business decisions. This position requires an enterprise corporate accounting veteran with 3+ years of tax experience who structures multi-jurisdictional compliance pipelines fluidly natively using Tax Preparation guidelines, analyzes transaction-level data sets smoothly natively using Financial Analyst models, and validates automated tax engine calculations confidently across complex digital payment networks.
Key Responsibilities
- U.S. Sales and Use Tax Compliance Ownership: Assist the Corporate Tax Manager in building, documenting, and filing multi-state sales and use tax returns, leveraging internal transaction ledgers and external partner resources natively utilizing Tax Preparation frameworks.
- Month-End General Ledger Reconciliations: Prepare, audit, and maintain indirect tax account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting account schedules to guarantee a seamless and transparent month-end and quarter-end financial close support sequence.
- Financial Statement Schedule Production: Partner with the core accounting group to support the annual financial statement auditing process, producing rigorous, scannable tax workpapers and historical validation records.
- Indirect Tax Audit and Notice Defense: Manage and support multi-jurisdictional indirect tax audits, state notices, and formal Information Document Requests (IDRs), gathering documentation, conducting analysis, and maintaining live audit tracking frameworks natively leveraging Financial Analyst metrics.
- Tax Engine System and UAT Testing: Support technical tax engine integrations and process changes, leading User Acceptance Testing (UAT) scripts, logging automated issues, and tracking calculation discrepancies to ensure absolute platform data parity.
- Cross-Functional Product Launch Alignment: Partner in lockstep with distributed Product Management and Operations teams to analyze, scope, and implement sales tax collection logic requirements for upcoming products, services, and local distribution nodes.
- Legislative Tax Research and Strategy: Track, monitor, and document emerging state and local tax legislative changes, researching specific marketplace facilitator changes to build actionable tax exposure mitigation recommendations for leadership.
- Rigorous Data Quality Control: Audit large, transaction-level e-commerce data streams within Microsoft Excel and database setups, investigating calculated tax discrepancies back to root software configuration failures.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of verified professional history running corporate tax analytics, public accounting tax consulting, indirect sales and use tax auditing, or enterprise financial data modeling within a high-transaction e-commerce environment.
- Deep, authoritative technical command of multi-state sales and use tax regulations, marketplace facilitator laws, indirect tax filing schedules, and general ledger account balancing patterns.
- Expert-tier capability modeling transaction-level tax records, structuring complex monthly close files, and mapping jurisdictional calculations natively utilizing Tax Preparation parameters.
- Practical operational familiarity parsing massive multi-million-row database sheets, automating pivot configurations, and tracking financial metrics natively using Financial Analyst toolsets (specifically requiring master-level Microsoft Excel proficiency).
- Possession of a formal university Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related quantitative business or economics field.
- Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation communication traits in business-fluent English, enabling absolute clarity when presenting tax exposure reports and coordinating responses across cross-functional internal cells and external state tax advisors.
- A meticulous, detail-obsessed professional execution mindset with an established history of managing competing priorities independently in a fast-paced technology landscape.
- Location Context: Position open exclusively to qualified tax engineers base-stationed permanently and resident within the United States to operate under a 100% remote work-from-home layout. Qualified applicants will be evaluated in alignment with regional fair chance ordinances.
Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)
- Prior commercial tax background operating inside a Big Four or recognized mid-tier public accounting firm.
- Active, verified professional credentials as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent international license.
- Hands-on functional experience manipulating automated indirect tax technology software platforms (specifically Avalara or Vertex) or creating macro data dashboards via Power BI systems.
- An outcome-driven personal philosophy rooted in high data curiosity, an eagerness to take immediate personal ownership of tax workflows, and an intense drive to build zero-error compliance frameworks.
What We Offer
- Competitively Scaled United States Salaried Blueprint: An attractive full-time base salary package structured transparently between $90,000 and $100,000 USD per year, calibrated precisely to evaluate your sales tax authority, big-data Excel craftsmanship, and compliance execution velocities, supplemented by corporate equity choices and discretionary cash bonuses.
- The exceptional professional canvas to directly direct, shape, and engine-manage the indirect tax systems power-routing compliance for one of the most visible online marketplaces in the world.
- Profound work-from-home remote parameters offering a 100% virtual setting across the United States, complete scheduling trust, and zero physical geographic office commuting friction.
- Immediate baseline access to premium comprehensive healthcare protections, providing robust medical, dental, and vision options for employees and dependents.
- Access to elite financial accumulation and lifestyle provisions, including a corporate matching 401(k) retirement channel, covered Paid Time Off (PTO), and flexible home-office tech options within an inclusive, diverse technology environment.
