Position Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical, product-minded Senior Software Engineer to join our core centralized Engineering collective in a full-time remote capacity across the United States. Functioning as a high-leverage individual contributor (IC) who codes confidently across the entire tech stack, you will step up to claim individual operational accountability for delivering impactful features that directly improve health outcomes for retirees. Shifting completely away from routine script typing, passive bug tracking, or disconnected template adjustments, you will act as a principal software architect—partnering side-by-side with product managers and product designers to translate loose user requirements into performant, elegant application frameworks. This position requires an internet technology veteran with 5+ years of verified history who programs high-throughput backend services fluidly natively using Python environment primitives (such as Django), constructs interactive visual interfaces smoothly natively using React or Vue methodologies, and manages scalable cloud microservices confidently.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-Stack Product Feature Engineering: Design, develop, test, and scale end-to-end user-facing product feature sets that optimize the broker and senior beneficiary onboarding journey natively utilizing Python web architectures.
- Responsive User Interface Curation: Code, audit, and polish clean, responsive client-side web applications and interactive dashboard layouts natively leveraging React or Vue frontend frameworks.
- Scalable System Design and Debt Management: Identify, track, and systematically isolate technical debt, constructing robust, modular software architectures to ensure uncompromised multi-tenant scale and low service latency.
- Cross-Functional Scope and Mockup Advisory: Partner in lockstep with distributed product managers and visual designers, providing rigorous constructive feedback on UI mockups, business criteria, and feature scopes.
- AI-First Developer Process Enablement: Lead the integration and day-to-day exploitation of advanced AI-powered coding assistants and workflows, using generative models to eliminate routine friction and amplify your code velocity.
- Peer Code Review and Engineering Standards: Maintain and actively contribute to the company’s core software engineering standards, leading comprehensive code audits and technical design reviews with your peers.
- Secure Cloud Infrastructure Support: Configure and deploy code pathways securely across distributed virtual networks, ensuring data plane integrity and zero-trust data safety patterns (specifically prioritizing AWS components).
Required Skills & Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of verified professional history running advanced full-stack software development, distributed systems backend engineering, API microservices architecture design, or technology product consulting.
- Demonstrated, meaningful commercial experience executing code across both frontend interfaces and backend logic models within production web environments.
- Deep, authoritative technical command of object-oriented programming patterns, model-view-controller (MVC) schemas, relational data boundaries, and API contract routing.
- Expert-tier capability writing scalable backend logic, mapping data tables, and building endpoints natively utilizing Python tools (with specific preferred exposure to Django frameworks).
- Practical operational familiarity rendering client-side logic, managing complex state engines, and designing scalable UI code natively using React or Vue systems.
- Strong, uncompromised familiarity utilizing advanced AI-enabled development tools as part of your core everyday software production workflow.
- Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation communication traits in fluent English, enabling seamless asynchronous collaboration across fast-paced product engineering cells.
- Location Context and Regulatory Security Notice: Position open exclusively to qualified full-stack engineers based permanently and resident within the United States (100% remote layout, with zero international work accommodation supported due to federal verification laws; Spark is a proud participant in E-Verify).
Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)
- Prior commercial software history operating explicitly within a hyper-growth venture-backed startup, high-transaction insurtech marketplace, or healthcare navigation SaaS platform.
- Direct hands-on deployment background managing server configurations or cloud databases natively within Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure.
- A proven track record of technical team guidance, project scrum leading, or technical engineering mentoring.
- An outcome-driven personal philosophy rooted in high technical curiosity, product intuition, a desire to understand how tech investments drive business outcomes, and a commitment to winning together.
