JOB SUMMARY

We’re looking for a Senior QA Engineer who combines technical expertise with a proactive, collaborative mindset. You’ll be a key contributor to how we deliver quality, leading by example and communicating effectively across disciplines to raise the bar for engineering standards.

You’ll join our dynamic and growing Product Engineering team at Storyblok, playing an instrumental role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our flagship CMS platform. This platform empowers businesses to create and deliver seamless digital content experiences.

In this role, you’ll work closely with product owners, designers, and developers to design and maintain clean, scalable automated tests, develop thorough test plans, perform rigorous testing, and continuously refine QA strategies to maintain best-in-class software quality. Your work will directly contribute to delivering an exceptional user experience by ensuring flawless performance across every facet of our application.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Own projects end-to-end with clarity, technical excellence, and accountability, ensuring high-quality standards across teams.
  • Act as a bar raiser, elevating quality and coding standards, promoting engineering excellence, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Design, implement, and maintain efficient and reliable automated tests across frontend and backend using Playwright and TypeScript.
  • Think strategically about test automation; collaborate with developers to ensure balanced test coverage within the testing pyramid.
  • Contribute to and evolve the overall testing strategy, improving QA processes and metrics.
  • Prepare and review test plans to validate both functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Perform manual and exploratory testing; document, track, and verify defects to ensure product excellence.
  • Analyze test results and monitor key testing metrics to identify patterns and opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate actively in project kick-offs to understand requirements, anticipate risks, and influence testability from the earliest stages.
  • Advocate for user experience and product quality, collaborating closely with product, design, and engineering to align QA goals with delivery outcomes.
  • Identify and communicate issues, risks, or dependencies early, escalating to product leadership when necessary.
  • Mentor and support teammates, fostering an open, empathetic environment that encourages learning, feedback, and high-quality automation practices.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience as a QA Engineer.
  • 3+ years of proven experience in test automation across frontend and backend using Playwright.
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript with experience building scalable, maintainable automation frameworks.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and align across technical and product teams.
  • High attention to detail, confidence in execution, and a strong motivation to contribute to organizational growth in a high-performing environment.
  • Experience in defining and driving test automation standards across teams.
  • Experience mentoring QA engineers in test design, coding practices, and quality ownership.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience writing and maintaining Ruby on Rails code.
  • Experience with observability and error tracking tools (e.g., Grafana, Kibana, Sentry) and identifying errors, trends, and issues.
  • Experience with accessibility testing and best practices.

OUR INTERVIEW PROCESS

We believe in creating a thoughtful and transparent interview experience. An overview of our interview process is available on our Careers site, and below is a snapshot of what you can expect if you move forward:

  1. Initial Screening (HR) - A brief introductory conversation to learn more about your background, experience, and what you’re looking for — and to ensure alignment on the role.
  2. Competency-Based Interview - A deeper discussion focused on technical expertise, problem-solving approach, communication style, and how you collaborate within a team.
  3. Take-Home Assignment - You’ll be invited to complete a short take-home exercise involving the automation of a small number of test cases and share your solution via GitHub.
  4. Task Presentation - If your submission aligns with what we’re looking for, you’ll be asked to walk us through your approach, including key design decisions and trade-offs.
  5. Ask Me Anything (AMA) - An final interview with a senior leader. In addition to standard interview questions, this is also a place where you can ask questions about the team, ways of working, and our company culture.

We aim to keep the process as efficient and respectful of your time as possible, and we’ll guide you through each step along the way.
