Senior Prop Trader

About the Role: Habitat Energy is a fast-growing technology company focused on the physical and financial optimization of energy storage and renewable generation assets globally. We are seeking a highly experienced, commercially driven Senior Power Trader to lead the build-out of our proprietary trading activity in the PJM market.

What You'll Do

• Own PJM market entry, strategy development, and PnL generation while establishing frameworks for a scalable, systematic trading operation.
• Translate deep market expertise into data-driven, programmatic approaches using quantitative models.
• Decompose PnL into key drivers (e.g., congestion, outages) and feed insights back into strategy iteration.
• Operate within defined risk limits, managing stop-loss frameworks, exposure controls, and escalation protocols.
• Partner effectively with Quant, Data Science, and Engineering teams to productionize strategies.

What You Bring

• Deep understanding of the PJM market structure, Day-Ahead/Real-Time dynamics, and structural inefficiencies.
• Proven ability to originate, execute, and scale profitable trading strategies with strict risk management discipline.
• Hands-on technical proficiency with Python (pandas, NumPy) for data analysis and workflow automation.
• A builder mindset with strong commercial judgment, intellectual independence, and a focus on risk-adjusted returns.
• Bonus: Systematic/programmatic trading exposure, multi-market experience (ERCOT, MISO, etc.), and advanced quantitative modeling backgrounds.
