Job Description

Instacart is hiring a Tech Lead for the Growth Modeling team to drive major initiatives in the incentive space. We are a fast-moving, results-driven group building production-ready ML/AI systems to optimize incentive allocation. You will tackle unique, high-impact problems—specifically focusing on Causal Modeling and Pricing Optimization—to drive substantial business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Serve as a Tech Lead—identifying high-leverage opportunities, defining technical roadmaps, and mentoring team members.
  • Incentive Optimization: Develop ML/AI solutions to optimize incentive and pricing strategies, ensuring efficiency in how we deploy budget to drive user growth.
  • End-to-End Execution: Drive the full lifecycle of ML solutions, from researching causal relationships to deploying production-ready models.
  • Collaboration: Partner closely with Product Managers, Marketers, Data Scientists, and Backend Engineers to translate business needs into impactful ML applications.
  • Innovation: Continuously innovate using advanced techniques like Reinforcement Learning and LLMs to improve decision-making systems.

Requirements

  • Experience: Proven track record of hands-on development of production-ready ML/AI solutions that deliver measurable business results.
  • Core Skills: Strong skills in analytics, modeling, programming, and communication.
  • Leadership: Experience leading initiatives, defining roadmaps, and raising technical standards within a team.
  • Mindset: Strong ownership and results-driven approach; comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Incentive or Pricing Optimization.
  • Strong background in Causal Modeling (Causal Inference).
  • Experience with LLMs and Reinforcement Learning.
