Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on, metrics-driven Senior Engineering Manager to lead and scale our Core Application Engineering squad. In this critical leadership track, you will oversee customer-facing features of the primary Affinity CRM product, managing everything from high-scale relational database modeling to performant frontend data surfacing. Operating as both an influential engineering strategist and an active individual technical contributor, you will partner closely with Product Management and Design verticals to map out product roadmaps, champion cutting-edge developer-facing AI tools, and deliver exceptionally scalable web experiences globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Coaching: Guide, mentor, and inspire a high-performing squad of full-stack engineers, actively accelerating their career progression and skill matrices.
- Technical Product Roadmap: Collaborate cross-functionally across Product and Design divisions to define the technical roadmap and execute the future of our core CRM platform.
- Hands-on Engineering Delivery: Maintain high personal velocity as an active contributor—driving complex system architecture tradeoffs, technical designs, and clean code implementation sweeps.
- Agile Process Governance: Champion iterative agile execution mechanics including high-signal daily standups, sprint planning sessions, product demos, and deep retrospective iterations.
- AI Productivity Advocacy: Evangelize modern generative AI coding tools and automation practices to expand developer efficiency limits while cultivating a highly collaborative learning environment.
- Squad Scaling & Recruitment: Proactively identify organizational talent gaps, headhunting and hiring premier full-stack software engineers to amplify overall team velocity.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 10+ years of verified professional experience operating in a full-stack software engineering capacity, building high-volume data-intensive web applications with rich visual dashboards.
- 5+ years of direct engineering management or formal technical leadership experience, actively coaching developers in a structured environment.
- Proven background delivering enterprise-grade, complex SaaS architectures with a passion for platform reliability and low-latency rendering standards.
- Deep software engineering fundamentals across system design patterns, distributed query tuning, and comprehensive testing lifecycles.
- Superb technical communication, stakeholder management, and interpersonal alignment capabilities.
- Location Context: 100% remote-friendly working infrastructure support open to qualified professionals based within Canada (with local hybrid optional hubs available in Toronto, Ontario).
Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)
- Direct production engineering experience navigating the core stack: Ruby on Rails, React, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL.
- Advanced conceptual understanding of high-scale CRM entity relationship mapping and metadata data model schemas.
- Familiarity managing containerized deployment environments leveraging AWS and Kubernetes clusters.

- Base Salary Bracket: $196,000 – $245,000 CAD per annum (Final salary allocation is calibrated in good faith based on geographical location, experience background, and technical tool assessments).
