Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to take ownership of the operational maintenance, scalability, and deployment automation of our cloud-based services. In this role, you will be embedded within the PingOne Advanced Services squad, working inside an integrated DevOps model where development and operations teams run continuous daily deployments. You will manage mission-critical customer environments, execute platform updates, onboard enterprise clients, and maintain automated deployments to uphold the highest standards of uptime, performance, and infrastructure security.
Key Responsibilities
- Environment Lifecycle Management: Manage dedicated customer environments, ensuring high availability, peak network performance, and rigid infrastructure security.
- Enterprise Client Onboarding: Provision and spin up new tenant environments, configuring baseline system patterns and setting up custom network connectivity links.
- Infrastructure updates & Audits: Keep environments up-to-date by regularly applying software version updates, security patches, hotfixes, and compliance benchmarks.
- Incident Troubleshooting & Monitoring: Monitor systems for anomalous behaviors, tracking stability loops, and working directly alongside support teams to resolve live deployment bottlenecks.
- CI/CD & Release Deployment: Collaborate with the internal software engineering group to execute continuous, automated daily product releases to multi-region cloud infrastructures.
- Documentation and Runbooks: Author, maintain, and expand technical procedures and operational runbooks within the shared team knowledge base.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of verified professional engineering experience architecting and maintaining scalable, highly distributed cloud-native architectures.
- 2+ years of hands-on production infrastructure experience leveraging major Cloud Platforms, specifically AWS or GCP.
- 1+ years of practical automation track record writing and deploying Infrastructure as Code (IaC) via Terraform.
- 2+ years of experience with containerization tools, explicitly including Docker ecosystem components.
- 1+ years of experience running container orchestration technologies, specifically production-grade Kubernetes clusters.
- Proven background troubleshooting automated deployments, including components for networking, security isolation, high reliability, and config matrices management.
- Solid understanding of team-oriented Git workflows (managing branching strategies, pull/merge requests, conflicts resolution).
- Location Context: 100% remote work flexibility setup open to qualified infrastructure engineering professionals residing inside the United Kingdom.
Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)
- In-depth conceptual understanding of network engineering parameters (routing protocols, naming systems, network failure modes, and performance metrics).
- Thorough understanding of the **HTTP protocol** stacks and Public Key Infrastructure (**PKI**).
- Familiarity with deployment instrumentation tools, system telemetry, and automation metrics.
- Hands-on programming proficiency utilizing Python and Bash scripting to automate manual operations loops.
- Prior experience collaborating effectively across geographically distributed cross-border teams.
