We believe the future of the web, and work, is more open, more creative, and more equitable. And we’re here to build it together.
We recently announced that we're opening an office in Buenos Aires, and this role will be one of the first members of the team.
We’re looking for a Senior Database Engineer to join our team and ensure our databases and the applications they support are performant, scalable, and reliable. This role blends database expertise with a strong application-aware mindset, ensuring that changes at the data layer translate seamlessly into improved product experiences.

As a Senior Database Engineer, you’ll …
- Optimize and tune database performance, including advanced query optimization.
- Design, maintain, and improve libraries connecting product applications to databases, including caching layers.
- Implement and manage caching strategies and database migrations.
- Collaborate closely with product engineers to ensure database changes align with and support application needs.
- Script regularly for automation, infrastructure, and reliability tasks (e.g., YAML, Pulumi).
- Build tools and libraries to enhance database reliability and streamline developer workflows.
- Work in Linux/bash environments for scripting and systems operations.
- Collaborate on the main Webflow application, primarily written in Node.js
- Support and scale MongoDB and PostgreSQL in production environments.
- Apply database reliability engineering practices to both SQL and NoSQL systems.
- Demonstrable experience and expertise in multiple technical domains.
- Contribute to building and executing on functional strategy.
- Lead projects that directly contribute to team and engineering organization's deliverables.
- Author, collaborate on, and evaluate design documents.
- Influence technical designs and team-level prioritization as well as participate in technical solutions.
- Collaborate with product managers in an autonomous, supportive team environment.
- Mentor junior engineers in technical skills and Webflow culture.
- Participate in engineering citizenship activities such as co-authoring engineering blogs, strengthening and improving our hiring processes, and leading internal hackathon teams.
