About the Job

We are seeking a Compensation Manager to partner closely with our R&D organization—including Engineering, Product, Design, and Data Science—to design, implement, and manage compensation programs that attract, motivate, and retain top technical talent. This role is a strategic advisor to leaders and HR Business Partners, bringing deep expertise in benchmarking, market trends, job architecture, and equity compensation within high-growth tech environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Management: Help facilitate corporate compensation programs such as annual compensation review cycles, promotion cycles, pay equity review, market calibration, and survey participation.
  • Strategy & Design: Design and deliver compensation structures and methodologies that will scale for long-term durability and global expansion.
  • Analytics & Modeling: Create dynamic compensation models and dashboards, articulating insights and recommending solutions based on your data analyses.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with stakeholders and subject matter experts from other teams and functions to address and provide solutions to ever-changing business needs.
  • Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with leaders, internal, and external partners with emotional intelligence, curiosity, and integrity.
  • Policy & Compliance: Develop policies and processes that support innovation and growth while upholding compliance and minimizing risk.
  • Strategic Advisory: serve as a trusted advisor to Human Resource Business Partners and senior business leaders.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience, preferably supporting technical organizations.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Equity Expertise: Experience with equity compensation structures at a publicly traded company.
  • Project Management: Excellent skills in compensation program design, delivery, and change management.
  • Technical Skills: Strong compensation analytics background (modeling, dashboards) and advanced proficiency with spreadsheets.
  • Systems: Strong experience with Human Resources Information Systems (preferably Workday).
  • Communication: Verbal, written, and interpersonal skills needed to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Mindset: An owner mindset coupled with innovative thinking and strong analytical/problem-solving skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience in an R&D compensation consulting role.
  • Prior experience with PAVE, Compa, or other comp tools.

Location & Travel

  • Remote Policy: This role will be remote, but is not eligible to be hired in CA, CT, NJ, NY, PA, WA.
  • Travel: Occasional travel may be required to participate in project or team in-person meetings.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Group A: Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont, Washington D.C. : $128,560 - $160,700.
  • Group B: New York, New Jersey, Washington State, California (outside Bay Area): $136,000 - $170,000.
  • Group C: San Francisco Bay area, California: $151,120 - $188,900.
  • Benefits: Eligible for Twilio’s equity plan, corporate bonus plan, health care insurance, 401(k), paid sick time, and paid parental leave.
