Senior 3D Character Artist II (AAA Games)

The Believer Company is a global games company headquartered in Los Angeles, built by the developers behind giants like League of Legends, Destiny, and Apex Legends. We are looking for an experienced Senior 3D Character Artist II to help create stunning, memorable 3D characters for a brand-new video game IP. You will report directly to the Character Art Director and help define the visual benchmark for the game.

Key Responsibilities

• High-Fidelity Sculpting: Create high-resolution digital sculpts (organic and hard-surface) based on concept art and collaborative brainstorming.
• Asset Creation: Build low and high-resolution character models, including UVs, textures, and materials, ensuring they meet performance requirements.
• Engine Integration: Participate in look development in Unreal Engine, including prototyping material networks and authoring PBR shaders.
• Pipeline Development: Help develop a scalable character pipeline (outfit customizations, LODs, topology standards) in coordination with Tech Art and Engineering.
• Collaboration: Partner with Animation and Design teams to ensure characters function perfectly in gameplay (clean deformation and rigging).

Requirements

• Experience: 8+ years of experience working as a 3D character artist for AAA games.
• Artistic Eye: A clear and demonstrated understanding of human anatomy, proportion, silhouette, and stylized character design.
• Tech Stack: Expert proficiency in Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Photoshop, and Unreal Engine.
• Technical Skills: Deep understanding of topology for animation, PBR workflows, and asset optimization.
• Mentorship: A natural collaborator willing to share knowledge and mentor peers.
