QA Tester (Manual & Automation)

PolicyFly (YC W22) is modernizing specialty insurance, a massive industry with huge challenges. We are a Fintech SaaS processing over $2B in insured value monthly. We are looking for a sharp, detail-driven QA Tester to ensure the reliability of our platform. You will join a mature team (founders working together for 15+ years) and validate complex workflows, including "Google Sheets"-like GUIs and pricing engines.

Key Responsibilities

• Testing Execution: Execute functional, regression, and exploratory tests on web-based insurance software.
• Bug Management: Log, track, and verify bugs using Jira, helping reproduce and isolate edge-case issues.
• Math Verification: Validate complex calculation engines; you must be comfortable understanding mathematical formulas (e.g., pricing an insurance policy).
• Automation: Utilize experience in testing automation (Web and APIs) to enhance coverage.
• Collaboration: Review user stories to identify test gaps and collaborate with engineering/product teams to validate fixes.

Requirements

• QA Experience: Experience with Manual QA testing and a curiosity to reproduce and document bugs.
• Automation: Experience in testing automation (Web, APIs) is required.
• Math Skills: Competence with mathematical formulas and general experience/comfort with Excel.
• Tools: Comfort using Jira for test case management.
• Language: English fluency (Written and Verbal) is mandatory.
• Schedule: Must be able to overlap with ET time zone (+/- 3 hours).

Nice to Have

• Industry Knowledge: Experience in the insurance industry (underwriting, quoting) or financial sectors.

Tech Stack

• Backend: Go, Python, Django, gRPC.
• Frontend: VueJS, TypeScript.
• Infrastructure: Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes.
