Job Description

Our Consumer Trade team is looking for a Product Manager to play a pivotal role in helping our users understand and manage their crypto taxes, portfolio performance, and realized / unrealized gains and losses across their Coinbase activity and beyond. You will lead the ideation, development, and execution of a best‑in‑class retail tax experience and tax center that simplifies an incredibly complex problem space—multiple wallets, on‑chain transfers, gas fees, and incomplete cost basis—while ensuring Coinbase can meet its tax reporting obligations in key markets. You will also own core parts of the consumer trading experience visited by millions of users every month, including transaction history and performance. You will leverage your understanding of financial transactions, tax concepts, and trading performance to build engaging, trustworthy experiences that help users manage their transactions, P&L, and tax obligations in one place.

What you’ll be doing

  • Own the Retail Tax, Transactions, and Performance roadmap: Understand user behaviors, emerging tax regulations, and market trends to conceptualize and implement a roadmap that makes it dramatically easier for customers to view their transactions, track their performance, and handle their crypto taxes (including handling use cases like multiple wallets, on‑chain transfers, and gas fees).
  • Data‑driven decision making: Define success metrics and run experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of tax and performance experiences (e.g., completeness of tax profiles, reduction in missing cost basis, engagement with tax tools, downstream filing behavior). Use data and user feedback to continuously iterate and improve.
  • Ship from 0→1 and 1→N: Own product development from conception to launch and beyond, iterating until you’ve created the most seamless, trusted retail tax and performance experience in crypto.
  • Design for scale and seasonality: Ensure the Retail Tax and performance surfaces are reliable, performant, and intuitive during critical periods such as tax season and major market events.
  • Align teams on a shared vision: Drive clarity and alignment across Consumer Trade and partner teams on the Retail Tax and performance vision, requirements, and execution plan, and keep everyone focused on the highest‑impact problems.

What we look for in you

  • 5+ years of product management experience, including time spent building or scaling consumer products, ideally in fintech, investing, tax, or other data‑heavy domains.
  • Domain expertise in financial transactions and taxes, such as experience with tax reporting products, cost basis, gains/loss calculations, or evaluating trading performance.
  • Strong analytical and data skills, with experience working on P&L, performance analytics, or similar financial reporting surfaces for retail users.
  • Consumer UX experience and a strong product/design sense for presenting complex financial information in simple, understandable, and engaging ways.
  • Experience building 0→1 products in high‑ambiguity spaces, creatively solving problems under constraints while maintaining a high quality bar.
  • Ability to work with complex stakeholder sets, including Tax, Legal, Compliance, Finance, support, and external partners, and to balance regulatory, business, and user needs.
  • Crypto literacy and hands‑on exposure to crypto products—ideally including on‑chain activity such as DEX trading or send/receive flows—so you can deeply understand the pain points of tax in a multi‑wallet, multi‑chain world.
  • Excellent communication and influence skills, with a track record of shaping strategic decisions and driving alignment across senior stakeholders.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and ability to succeed in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
  • Aptitude for learning and the ability to quickly ramp on new and complex regulatory and technical domains.

Nice to haves

  • Direct experience with US tax reporting rules for digital assets (e.g., cost basis, 1099 reporting, wash sales, staking rewards).

Safety First

  • Never pay for a job application.
  • Do not share sensitive bank info.
  • Verify the client before starting work.
