Job Description

Intro

Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.

To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems.

Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.

While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported.

Team/ Role Paragraph:

The Acquisition & Activation team sits within the Consumer Growth organization and focuses on helping new users discover the core value of Coinbase as quickly and efficiently as possible, turning sign‑ups into activated, retained customers. We take a data‑driven, experimental approach to improving the user activation funnel from the moment a user lands on coinbase.com through signup, onboarding, and their first successful transaction.

As a Product Manager I on Growth Activation, you will help shape and execute the roadmap for these core activation experiences, working with engineering, design, and data to increase activation rates, reduce time‑to‑first‑transaction, and lay the foundation for long‑term engagement.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

  • Support the strategy and roadmap for the New User Experience, User Lifecycle, Multi-Product Discovery, and New User Incentives to help new users seamlessly complete KYC, add a payment method, and begin to invest on Coinbase.
  • Analyze activation funnels and dashboards to identify where new users drop off, size opportunities, and propose clear, experiment‑backed solutions.
  • Write simple, clear product requirements and user stories, and partner with Engineering and Design to ship improvements to NUX flows, incentives, and related UX.
  • Run A/B tests across the entire lifecycle of a user’s first 30 days – from onboarding to incentives – in partnership with Data Science and experimentation teams; interpret results and recommend follow‑ups.
  • Collaborate with adjacent teams (Identity, Onboarding, Payments, Incentives, Growth Foundations) to ensure activation experiences are technically sound, cohesive, high quality, and consistent across platforms.
  • Contribute to on‑call and operational excellence for Activation‑owned services (e.g., new user incentives, notifications, cross-product discovery), working with engineering partners to keep critical new‑user paths reliable.

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

  • 3+ years of product management or closely related experience (e.g., growth, operations, program management, or analytics) in consumer products.
  • Experience working on user funnels (signup, onboarding, or checkout), including using data to understand drop‑offs and measure impact of product changes.
  • Comfort with experimentation and basic analytics (e.g., setting success metrics, reading A/B test results, partnering with Data Science or Analytics).
  • Strong collaboration skills; you work well with Engineering, Design, and cross‑functional partners and can drive alignment on priorities and tradeoffs.
  • Clear written and verbal communication; able to turn ambiguous problems into simple problem statements, PRDs, and next steps.
  • Interest in crypto and financial products, with curiosity to learn quickly about our users and ecosystem.

Nice to haves:

  • Prior experience in growth, activation, onboarding, or lifecycle roles focused on acquisition‑to‑activation or early retention.
  • Familiarity with experimentation and lifecycle tooling (e.g., in‑app experimentation platforms, A/B testing tools, or CRM/notification systems).
  • Experience working with incentives, referrals, or gamification programs for new users.
  • Hands‑on experience as a crypto user (buying, earning, or on‑chain activity).

Safety First

  • Never pay for a job application.
  • Do not share sensitive bank info.
  • Verify the client before starting work.
