Position Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical, systems-minded Principal Product Manager to join our core centralized Product team in a full-time remote capacity (available within select U.S. states). Operating as a high-leverage strategic architect and reporting directly to the VP of Product, you will step up to claim individual operational accountability for owning the product vision, strategy, and execution frameworks for our core interview platform. Shifting completely away from routine feature taking or passive backlog management, you will lead cross-functional innovation cycles, translating deep user empathy into predictive hiring solutions. This position requires an engineering-fluent product veteran with 8+ years of B2B/B2C history who navigates AI-assisted development tools fluidly, models candidate performance data smoothly natively using analytics, and bridges complex technical concepts flawlessly for executive enterprise clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Platform Product Vision and Strategy Formulation: Define, document, and execute the comprehensive roadmap for the Karat product suite, actively collaborating with senior leadership to shape Karat’s macro strategy within the evolving technical assessment market.
- AI-Driven Capabilities Integration: Evaluate and deploy strategies leveraging cutting-edge AI technologies to provide stronger candidate signals and more accurate measurements of a developer’s technical capabilities natively utilizing modern Project Management lifecycles.
- Cross-Functional Execution and Delivery: Partner peer-to-peer alongside core engineering, content, UX design, and data teams to prioritize features based strictly on customer needs and business objectives, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions.
- Data-Led Analytics and Insights Triage: Analyze vast troves of assessment data to improve platform accuracy, designing rigorous experiments to evaluate different technical approaches and leveraging a database of hundreds of thousands of candidate interactions.
- Market Expansion and GTM Synchronization: Monitor product performance metrics continuously to identify growth opportunities, partnering tightly with Go-to-Market (GTM) teams on expansion strategies and developing compelling business cases for new technical offerings.
- Executive-Level Stakeholder Advocacy: Engage directly with senior, highly technical leaders at massive global enterprises, articulating the nuances of evaluating core software developer fundamentals and gaining executive buy-in.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 8+ years of verified professional history running advanced product management, technical platform strategy, developer tools scaling, or B2B/B2C enterprise software leadership.
- Deep, authoritative technical command of software development lifecycles, possessing a formal Computer Science (CS) degree or equivalent hands-on technical background.
- Active Technical Craftsmanship: Proven ability to actively code using AI-assisted tools, maintaining a firsthand, current understanding of the modern developer experience.
- Demonstrated capability defining, launching, selling, and scaling successful software products that have generated proven, measurable business impact.
- Expert-tier verbal and written communication mechanics in fluent English, enabling absolute confidence when translating complex technical assessment concepts to diverse stakeholders and leading cross-functional squads.
- Successful track record conducting high-stakes executive presentations, clearly conveying product features, benefits, and macro business value.
- Location Context and Compliance: Position open exclusively to qualified product leaders based permanently and resident within the following U.S. states: **CO, CT, Washington D.C., FL, GA, IL, KS, MA, MD, MO, NV, OR, PA, RI, SC, TX, VA, WA, and WI**.
