Principal Machine Learning Engineer, Growth

Pinterest is seeking a Principal Machine Learning Engineer to serve as the Technical Lead for the Growth Engineering organization. You will be responsible for setting the overall technical strategy, unified architecture, and roadmap for user engagement growth. This role requires a visionary leader with strong hands-on expertise in Deep Learning, Generative AI, and large-scale ML deployment.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Strategy: Act as the technical point of contact for an 125+ member org, setting the long-term technical direction for engagement growth.
• Architecture: Champion and drive large-scale, cross-functional initiatives to grow user visitation and engagement depth.
• Partnership: Develop strong partnerships with product teams to address future technology needs and current developer pain points.
• Mentorship: Scale leadership through direct mentorship, best practices, processes, training, and tools.
• Advocacy: Act as the ultimate advocate for engineers on Growth, prioritizing projects that ensure high-quality capabilities and a world-class Pinner experience.

Requirements

• Experience: 10+ years of professional experience as a hands-on engineer and technical leader leading multiple projects.
• ML Expertise: Deep expertise in building large-scale ML systems with modern frameworks, including Deep Learning and Generative AI.
• Leadership: Track record of innovating and delivering large, cross-functional projects across multiple organizations.
• Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
• Education: Degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related field.

Benefits & Work Model

• Elite Compensation: Base salary ranges from $267,393 — $550,515 USD.
• Equity: The position is eligible for significant equity (Stock Options/RSUs).
• PinFlex: Flexible work model; you are not required to be in an office daily but must gather for key moments of collaboration 1-2 times every 6 months.
• Location: Candidates can be situated anywhere in the country, but must be US Based.
