Position Overview
We are seeking a strategic, hands-on People Operations Manager to serve as the operational backbone and strategic nerve center of Honeydew as we scale from 170 to 500+ team members. Sitting at the crucial intersection of business operations and people strategy, you will take full ownership of the HR fundamentals, systems, and compliance documentation that keep us organized. As an individual contributor with a clear path to leadership, you will partner directly with supervisors to implement leveling frameworks, manage complex change management friction, and transition our people managers into exceptional people leaders.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Scaling: Audit, formalize, and construct core people systems from scratch, including compensation cycle structures, open enrollment benefits administration, and employment documentation workflows.
- Strategic Business Partnership: Embed deeply into Honeydew’s operational matrix, advising departmental leaders on team structures, leveling, headcount planning, and org dependencies.
- HRIS & PEO Ownership: Take hands-on administrative control of platforms like Justworks (or equivalent PEOs) and internal HRIS systems to ensure pristine data metrics and compliance.
- Leadership Coaching & Training: Implement structured coaching frameworks to uplevel front-line management, acting as a strategic advisor for performance management and team dynamics.
- Employee Experience & Retention: Architect comprehensive engagement strategies for a diverse, distributed workforce, owning internal communications and the employee wiki ecosystem.
- Workflow Automation: Proactively identify process gaps and leverage modern automation (including AI-powered tools) to streamline tedious HR workflows and amplify strategic execution.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Demonstrated professional history surviving and thriving during a 100 to 500+ employee growth spurt within a tech or tech-enabled environment (ideally experiencing this cycle more than once).
- Deep technical workforce expertise managing complex dynamics for both non-exempt (hourly) and exempt (salaried) remote knowledge workers. (Note: Retail, hospitality, or manufacturing experience is not applicable).
- Strong business acumen with the ability to connect People Ops decisions directly to revenue drivers, team dependencies, and high-level org design tradeoffs.
- Proven project mastery and high EQ, capable of managing ambiguity, driving concurrent workstreams to completion, and conducting difficult conversations with grace.
- Hands-on systems administration expertise managing Justworks or similar PEO/HRIS platforms.
- Location Context: 100% remote-first operational infrastructure flexibility open exclusively to qualified professionals permanently residing within the United States.

- Fluency building or leveraging AI-powered / agentic workflows to automate human resources and people operations processes.
