Position Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical, detail-oriented Manual Tester to join our core centralized Development Team in a full-time remote capacity based in South Africa. In this high-impact quality assurance seat, you will step up to claim individual operational accountability for testing web applications against specified requirements, ensuring cross-platform compatibility and a seamless user experience. Shifting away from unstructured manual checks, you will actively develop a grounding in test automation and maintain comprehensive test documentation. This position requires a seasoned software tester with a minimum of 2 years of hands-on QA experience who writes detailed test cases fluidly, navigates cross-browser environments smoothly, and thrives under pressure to meet tight deadlines within an Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Web Application Testing: Thoroughly test developed web applications against specified requirements across a variety of desktop browsers and mobile devices, natively utilizing QA Engineer best practices to ensure cross-platform compatibility.
- Test Automation Integration: Apply and further develop a strong grounding in test automation by learning and operating low-code and no-code UI-based testing tools.
- Defect Tracking and Triage: Diligently record, monitor, and report software issues, maintaining clear communication channels with development teams to expedite troubleshooting, and participating in critical defect triage meetings.
- Comprehensive Test Documentation: Create, maintain, and structure high-quality test documentation, including detailed test plans, test cases, and repeatable test scripts for knowledge sharing.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate intimately alongside core developers and key stakeholders to resolve technical issues effectively and provide critical quality feedback.
- Project Estimation and Workload Tracking: Consistently track test progress in alignment with active release schedules, prioritize workloads efficiently, and provide accurate estimates for testing efforts to support realistic project planning.
- Process Maturation and Continuous Improvement: Review existing test environments and processes to drive continuous improvements, actively suggesting enhancements to test strategies that align with evolving project parameters.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years of verified hands-on professional experience in software QA, including testing web-based applications, cross-browser functional testing, and writing detailed test cases.
- Solid working knowledge and practical familiarity with test automation frameworks natively leveraging Automation Engineer workflows (preferably using Selenium WebDriver).
- Previous exposure and operational understanding of core web technologies, explicitly including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, to enhance testing effectiveness.
- Familiarity with Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) practices and methodologies.
- Outstanding interpersonal and organizational abilities to support close collaboration within a fast-paced Agile team environment.
- Comfortable and efficient working seamlessly across both PC and Mac operating platforms.
- Possession of a recognized ISEB/ISTQB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing.
- Location Context: Position open exclusively to qualified QA professionals based permanently and resident within **South Africa** to execute testing operations under a 100% remote layout.
