Manager, Software Development, Platform Experience

Wealthsimple is Canada’s largest fintech company, trusted by 3+ million users with over $100 billion in assets. We are looking for an Engineering Manager for our Platform Experience team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between Platform and Product engineering, leading a senior group of developers to ensure system reliability and ship error-free experiences. Key Responsibilities People Leadership: Guide, coach, and manage a senior team of software developers, fostering a culture of feedback and growth. Reliability Engineering: Partner with product teams to identify reliability challenges and implement targeted solutions (reducing time-to-detect/resolve incidents). Strategic Alignment: Collaborate with Platform, Product, Design, and Data teams to align on priorities and make informed trade-offs. Operational Excellence: Lead migrations, unblock dependencies, and manage the team's rotation program for smooth developer onboarding/offboarding. Technical Direction: Engage in high-level discussions about system reliability, performance, and architecture. Requirements Management Experience: Proven experience in managing and coaching software engineering teams. Technical Background: Strong engineering background with the ability to discuss complex system reliability and architecture issues. Collaboration: Experience coordinating cross-functional initiatives across multiple engineering teams. Communication: Excellent skills in sharing updates, building alignment, and creating documentation. Nice to Have (Bonus) Experience with Platform or Infrastructure engineering. Background in SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) or production operations. Familiarity with Observability Tools and incident management processes.
