Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, process-driven mortgage operations leader to step into the role of Lending Manager (Back End). In this strategic capacity, you will manage, lead, and scale our high-volume mortgage Closing and Funding departments, alongside co-managing the post-closing Loan Assistant squad for recordation and structural file audits. This execution-centric leadership track requires an agile technical mind capable of load-balancing closing pipelines to meet rigorous SLA targets, writing standard operating policies, and auditing data to protect capital compliance parameters.
Key Responsibilities
- Closing & Funding Governance: Direct and manage the full daily production workflow of the mortgage Closer and Funder team tracking performance against company KPIs.
- Pipeline & SLA Management: Proactively track and load-balance the mortgage closing pipeline, delivering real-time pipeline coaching, routing escalations, and troubleshooting complex exceptions.
- Post-Closing Oversight: Co-manage cross-functional Loan Assistants during post-closing phases, ensuring rigorous document validation, file recordation loops, and detailed file audits are met.
- Front-to-Back Synchronization: Partner closely alongside the Front-End Lending Manager to ensure frictionless account transitions from processing/underwriting tracks directly into closing channels.
- Policy & Procedure Architecture: Collaborate with the Head of Lending to analyze policy bottlenecks; author updated process guidelines and procedure playbooks, then supervise internal training and team adoption loops.
- Performance Telemetry tracking: Maintain clear individual accountability metrics by documenting developmental 1:1 goals and tracking metrics inside platforms like BambooHR and 15Five.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of verified professional experience within the mortgage lending or real estate finance industry, with at least 5 years operating directly in a structured leadership or team manager role.
- Proven background managing a mortgage loan closing, funding, or specialized banking operations department.
- In-depth, authoritative knowledge of Conventional mortgage products, structural Fannie Mae / Freddie Mac guidelines, and Regulatory Mortgage Compliance frameworks (state, federal, and local investor policies).
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of running national distributed teams in a 100% remote layout.
- Obsessive attention to operational detail with an absolute commitment to data accuracy and triple-checking financial documentation.
- Strong problem-solving capacity to implement systemic adjustments across processing pipelines when tracking performance metrics.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent verified professional industry experience.
- Location Context: 100% remote working infrastructure and flexible task tracking open to qualified financial operations leaders residing anywhere within the United States.
What We Offer
- Base Compensation Bracket: $88,100 – $96,100 USD per annum (Final salary allocation is determined in good faith according to experience levels, role level, and localized market coordinates).
- Lucrative incentive plan structure offering consistent, performance-based bonus payouts.
- Top-tier comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance options starting on your absolute first day of employment.
- Highly flexible Paid Time Off (PTO) package alongside structured paid parental leave options (12 weeks for birthing parents / 6 weeks for non-birthing parents).
- Dedicated annual $1,000 professional development learning stipend.
- Company-sponsored Life, AD&D, and short/long-term disability insurance coverage lines.
- Noncontributory corporate 401(k) retirement savings infrastructure.
- $75 monthly wellness allowance, up to $400 monthly co-working office space subsidy, and a recurring $100 monthly stipend for high-speed home internet and mobile device data connectivity lines.
