About Biffa: Biffa is the undisputed leader in integrated waste management, circular economy logistics, and sustainable resource recovery across the United Kingdom. For decades, our business has driven essential environmental services, operating an extensive national infrastructure network of collection centers, sorting facilities, and specialized transport hubs. At Biffa, we value real operational excellence and human development, building high-performing operational squads who share knowledge and master complex municipal systems to provide top-tier, on-time service configurations everyday.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated, knowledgeable, and domain-fluent Traffic Dispatcher to join our core Learning & Development team for a high-impact, 6-month internal secondment. In this coaching-centric seat, you will step away from daily frontline dispatch loops to lead the execution and rollout of a brand-new, modular training curriculum tailored for all incoming Traffic Dispatchers enterprise-wide. Serving as a premier instructional anchor, you will translate technical traffic office systems, fleet tracking metrics, and localized routing grids into structured virtual lessons. This track is built for an excellent communicator who can confidently deliver peer-to-peer training, build up starter confidence, and raise operational compliance standards across the network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Modular Training Rollout: Own and drive the delivery of our newly engineered modular training system designed to accelerate the onboarding cycle for new-hire Traffic Dispatchers.
  • Central System Optimization Training: Act as the principal system coach, training new starters on advanced platform tools including Customer Enquiry Screens, Standing Orders Generation, Conveyance Note Management, and Disposal Ticket Entries.
  • Logistics Best Practice Mentorship: Teach core traffic office performance variables, ensuring complete team fluency with **Wasted Journey Management, OTIF (On-Time In-Full) service metrics, and CRS log configurations**.
  • Virtual Classroom Presentation: Organize, package, and facilitate highly engaging remote training blocks, simulations, and slide layouts using modern collaborative surfaces like Microsoft Teams and PowerPoint.
  • Driver Engagement Analytics: Provide clear analytical summaries detailing driver alignment loops, Net Earnings Reports interpretation, and internal compliance codes like TC77.
  • Cross-Network Collaboration: Sync regularly with regional operations leads and functional supervisors across our UK offices to capture shifting process inputs and optimize documentation consistency.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven professional history running traffic dispatching, fleet routing, or logistics coordination within an industrial Traffic Office environment.
  • Deep operational command over localized **Central System tracking grids**, ledger entry tools, and docket management frameworks.
  • Strong conceptual grounding in transport metrics, route optimization variables, and carrier scheduling structures (such as QLS, BINS, or equivalent databases).
  • Outstanding verbal, presentation, and written English communication mechanics, optimized to facilitate group discussions over digital interfaces easily.
  • High proficiency structuring visual slide decks and orchestrating virtual meetings natively via **Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Teams**.
  • Location Context: 100% remote-first full-time secondment framework open exclusively to current internal operators or qualified logistics candidates permanently located within the United Kingdom.
  • Travel Parameters: Full personal flexibility to travel occasionally across regional corporate nodes for site integrations, team reviews, or live delivery evaluations.

Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)

  • Prior experience facilitating group training modules, peer mentoring, or authoring instructional guides for transport operations.
  • Familiarity navigating large-scale infrastructure change-management frameworks or service evaluation metrics.

What We Offer

  • The exceptional professional canvas to step away from daily operational grinds and directly design the structural training future for our national logistics fleet.
  • Highly competitive UK salary compensation benchmarks aligned accurately to experience and systematically reviewed twice a year.
  • Direct assignment retention containing 25 days of annual holiday plus local public holidays (with total freedom to swap public holiday choices or enjoy your birthday off).
  • Profound work-from-home scheduling flexibility supported by an agile, remote-first setup and zero internal meetings scheduled on Friday afternoons.
