Lead Engineer

About the Role: Patchstack is seeking a Lead Engineer to lead a small squad (typically 3 engineers) to deliver clear missions end-to-end. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will write code, review code, own architecture choices, and partner closely with Product and Design.

What You'll Do

• Own your squad's mission and delivery cadence, translating high-level goals into a delivery plan.
• Build and maintain Laravel-based services and web applications using Vue.js and Inertia.js.
• Make and communicate pragmatic architectural decisions and actively manage technical debt.
• Leverage AI tools (like Claude, Copilot) and automation to accelerate development and operational workflows.
• Coach engineers through pairing, code reviews, and constructive feedback.

What You Bring

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years leading or owning delivery for a small team.
• Strong backend/full-stack capability with Laravel/PHP, API design, and pragmatic system design.
• Experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies, and observability tooling.
• Comfort and curiosity with AI-assisted development tools to move faster.
• Bonus: Interest in the cybersecurity domain and experience in a small, fast-scaling company.
