Job Description

About the Role: Evergreen Nephrology partners with nephrologists to transform kidney care through a value-based, person-centered approach. As a Lead CDI Coder, you will partner with physician offices to assist in translating healthcare documentation into standardized codes, ensuring accurate coding and billing of patient encounters, and serving as a subject matter expert in Coding and Documentation.

What You'll Do

  • Accurately code diagnoses ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements (ICD-10, CPT).
  • Issue compliant queries to healthcare providers when documentation appears ambiguous or incomplete.
  • Conduct audits of medical records to identify trends and improve documentation practices.
  • Provide ongoing education and develop training programs for clinical staff and coders.
  • Collaborate with compliance, revenue cycle, and quality management to optimize the documentation process.

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of recent outpatient medical coding experience.
  • Must possess one of the following coding credentials: CPC, CRC, CCS, CPMA or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, Category II, CPT coding, and risk adjustment methodology (HCC).
  • Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and electronic health records (EHR).
  • Ability to analyze complex medical records and identify documentation gaps in a remote environment.
