Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive, self-motivated Junior Game Developer (Java / libGDX) to join our core technical group in a flexible, remote contractor capacity supporting one of our strategic clients. In this unique software engineering and AI dataset generation seat, you will claim individual accountability for creating, maintaining, and optimizing straightforward 2D game features and mechanics. Moving completely away from boilerplate commercial game publishing, your primary objective is to build controlled interactive workflows that help train next-generation artificial intelligence systems. Your source-code outputs will directly influence how advanced machine learning models learn, reason, and operate by providing highly deterministic, error-free environmental data. No previous experience in artificial intelligence is required—what counts is your solid foundational grasp of object-oriented code structures and 2D physics primitives.
Key Responsibilities
- 2D Game Feature Engineering: Design, build, and optimize clean 2D game mechanics and interactive software features natively utilizing Java and the libGDX framework.
- AI Training Data Gathering: Collaborate cross-functionally alongside artificial intelligence specialists to model engaging game scenarios optimized to extract high-quality reinforcement learning data.
- Fundamental Loop Development: Program stable runtime game components, managing game loops, input handling matrices, multi-track sprite renderers, and asset loading states.
- Code Debugging & Performance Triage: Proactively identify, profile, and resolve code anomalies or thread blockages to guarantee optimal frame rates and components stability.
- Technical Documentation Mapping: Author comprehensive, structured documentation outlines mapping game procedures, operational rules, and asset dependency trees for multi-disciplinary training teams.
- Collaborative Code Auditing: Engage actively inside team code reviews, adopting strict internal programming conventions and seeking peer suggestions to accelerate technical velocity.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Solid baseline understanding of Java programming and object-oriented design (OOD) software design principles.
- Practical, hands-on configuration experience building 2D game prototypes or demos natively inside the libGDX framework (demonstrated via personal projects, coursework, or prototypes).
- Conceptual grasp of core game design mathematics, including game loop execution, sprite animations, and multi-tenant input processing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication mechanics, highlighting a strong capacity to articulate technical concepts and author clean code documentation.
- Hiring Process Alignment: Active willingness to participate in an AI-driven video technical screen as part of the formal evaluation pipeline.
- Location Context: Contract-based parameters open exclusively to qualified junior developers permanently located across India or the United States, executing from home in a fully remote setup.
Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)
- A functional code portfolio demonstrating lightweight games or interactive applications (direct links to playable web demos or active GitHub repositories are highly preferred).
- Familiarity with foundational physics math, encompassing vector components, collision detection bounds, and coordinate transformations.
- Practical background versioning software code repositories using Git distributed systems within collaborative project setups.
