Position Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical, systems-minded Junior Editor to join our core centralized Content Team in a part-time freelance remote capacity within the United States. In this new, experimental, and fast-paced operational seat, you will claim individual accountability for running, maintaining, and improving our specialized suite of AI-assisted editorial applications. Shifting completely away from analog pen-and-paper markup or passive manuscript logging, you will serve as a technical wordsmith bridging the path between machine generation and premium narrative literature. This position requires an editor with 3 years of professional text-handling background and 1 year of dedicated fiction optimization experience who executes quick-turnaround copyedits fluidly, evaluates manuscript data structures smoothly under quantitative reasoning criteria, and aligns seamlessly with San Francisco operating hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • AI Editorial Tool Optimization: Run and govern specialized internal artificial intelligence editing tools on incoming manuscripts, checking that digital modifications match top structural publishing standards.
  • Manuscript Quality Assurance and Triage: Review and audit raw book text properties systematically natively utilizing Copywriter syntax guidelines to verify accurate vocabulary pacing and plot structure output.
  • High-Velocity Text Engineering: Execute quick-turnaround, clean, and beautifully polished copyedits, line edits, deep proofreading runs, and beta-reading reports natively leveraging Blog Writing best practices.
  • Technical Feedback System Loop: Formulate and deliver comprehensive operational assessments, bug documentations, and feature enhancement suggestions directly to internal Product and Content cells to upgrade editing applications.
  • Genre Theme Verification: Manage text properties for target mass-market genres, reviewing stylistic conventions across Romance subgenres, explicitly including Paranormal Romance, Contemporary, and Erotica.
  • Cross-Functional Content Alignment: Collaborate closely alongside internal data scientists, cross-functional content team members, and text developers to establish optimized baseline models for algorithmic story discovery.
  • Quantitative Reasoning Implementation: Apply basic data analytics logic to monitor reader engagement metrics, cross-referencing predictive hit patterns with linguistic manuscript parameters.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 3 years of verified professional history running advanced text editing, corporate publishing management, manuscript optimization, document proofreading, or freelance copyediting consulting.
  • At least 1 year of dedicated history specifically optimization creative long-form commercial fiction properties.
  • Deep, authoritative technical command of native English grammar, developmental structural line-editing mechanics, and comprehensive style sheet mapping natively utilizing Copywriter parameters.
