Today, we feed hundreds of thousands of hungry dogs across the UK and Europe - but we won’t stop until we’re feeding dogs everywhere. To get there, we need a team of brilliant people who share that ambition to come and work for us.
The job:
We are on the hunt for exceptionally talented, creative freelance Swedish and Danish Copywriters to help us make dogs happier and healthier. We are looking for specialists in either language—and if you happen to be a 'unicorn' who can masterfully handle both, we definitely want to talk to you.
Your role is critical: you will be the ultimate guardian of our brand voice in your native market. You’ll ensure our brand resonates with Swedish/Danish audiences without losing the unique 'personality' that defines Butternut Box.
The Role: Remote / Freelance Capacity: Approx. 5–8 hours per week (subject to project flow)
The Mission: Quality & Consistency
We need a highly autonomous pro who can plug into our workflows and take full ownership of language quality. You won’t just be writing; you’ll be the Quality Assurance lead for your market. Whether it’s refining AI-generated drafts, editing agency copy, or crafting brand-led campaigns from scratch, we need to trust you to maintain our 'Tone of Bark' across every touchpoint.
Responsibilities
- Tone of Voice Guardianship: Adapt and protect our unique brand voice for the Swedish/Danish markets, ensuring consistency across all channels.
- Copywriting & Content Creation: Write captivating, brand-led copy for online marketing (Paid Social/Search), offline collateral, and CRM emails.
- Quality Assurance & Editing: Proofread and polish AI-generated or agency-provided copy to ensure it meets our high standards for grammar, flair, and local nuance.
- Transcreation: Move beyond literal translation to transcreate English concepts into high-quality local copy for our website and physical products.
- Autonomy: Manage your own workflow and provide 'plug-and-play' support to our internal teams.
Requirements
Must-have:
- Native Swedish or Danish speaker (or both!) with impeccable written skills and English fluency.
- Proven Experience: A track record of copywriting for D2C brands, including performance marketing and CRM.
- Critical Eye: Exceptional proofreading skills and a 'quality-first' mindset.
- Brand Intuition: A deep understanding of how tone of voice builds brand equity.
- Versatility: Ability to pivot from short, snappy social hooks to long-form editorial content.
- Portfolio: A strong body of work showcasing your range and creativity.
Nice-to-have:
- Proficiency in Notion and/or Lokalise (our Translation Memory System).
- Ability to work in Figma to edit copy directly within designs.
- Experience in the pet food or FMCG industry.
