About NorthOak

NorthOak is a boutique technology and digital operations consulting firm whose mission is to empower organizations and teams to scale, automate, and streamline their operations. Our team works closely with diverse companies and provides innovative solutions such as workflow management systems, customized outsourcing, and digital transformation initiatives. Founded in 2024, NorthOak aims to become a leader in operations consulting, partnering with businesses across various industries to optimize their processes and drive sustainable growth.

Your Role

We’re seeking a Senior Finance Lead to support financial operations for one of our fast-growing clients. This role is ideal for a hands-on finance professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and can drive both execution and process improvement.

You will work closely with the client’s leadership and existing finance team to manage day-to-day financial operations, ensure accurate reporting, and improve systems across invoicing, payments, payroll, and forecasting. This role supports the client’s Finance Lead and does not replace them.

Beyond finance, you will also support team coordination, maintain documentation, and contribute to special projects and system improvements.

The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and highly adaptable, with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to move quickly without sacrificing accuracy.

This is a full-time remote position with the potential for growth for high performers. Candidates must be available during Eastern Time business hours (9am–5pm, Monday to Friday).

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the full month-end close process, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely financial records
  • Perform regular account reconciliations (bank, credit card, and balance sheet) to maintain clean and reliable financial data
  • Manage AP/AR workflows using Bill.com and Tipalti, including vendor onboarding, invoice processing, approvals, and payments
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of financial data within QuickBooks, including proper categorization and record-keeping
  • Oversee payroll and expense management processes through Rippling or similar platforms
  • Review, audit, and validate financial transactions and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting policies
  • Monitor cash flow and proactively flag inconsistencies, risks, or areas for improvement
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities across financial workflows and reporting

Process Improvement, Projects & Operational Support

  • Identify and implement improvements across bookkeeping, reconciliation, and reporting workflows, including automation initiatives
  • Support system implementations, migrations, and software transitions
  • Clean up historical financial data and improve reporting accuracy
  • Create and maintain SOPs and documentation for financial processes
  • Support team accountability and assist with cross-functional or operational initiatives

Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax requirements, and internal controls
  • Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or related roles
  • C1-level English proficiency in both written and spoken communication
  • Strong hands-on experience with QuickBooks, Bill.com, Tipalti, and Rippling
  • Proven experience managing full-cycle accounting and financial operations
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, including financial modeling
  • Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth, or startup environments preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field required
  • CPA or equivalent is a plus

What Sets You Apart

  • High initiative and ownership mindset—you don’t wait to be told what to do
  • Comfortable operating beyond finance and supporting broader business needs
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on building structure and clarity
  • Experience creating and maintaining documentation and SOPs
  • Ability to manage or support team members and drive accountability
  • Proactive problem-solver with a solutions-oriented mindset
  • Strong communicator who can translate financial and operational insights clearly
  • Comfortable working in an environment with evolving priorities and ambiguity

Safety First
