Engineering Manager

About the Role: Lithic is the modern card issuing and processing platform empowering ambitious financial companies. We are hiring an Engineering Manager for our Processing team to build and maintain the real-time interfaces between Lithic and external payment networks, handling card authorization, clearing, and settlement.

What You'll Do

• Ensure high reliability, low latency, and correctness for Lithic's transaction processing interfaces.
• Lead delivery of new capabilities across authorization, clearing/settlement, disputes, and network integration.
• Own and evolve the infrastructure supporting physical network peering with card network partners.
• Raise the bar on operational excellence: observability, incident response, and on-call readiness.
• Partner closely with Product and cross-functional stakeholders to clarify requirements and lead team documentation efforts.

What You Bring

• Experience managing and growing engineers in a player-coach capacity.
• Strong technical judgment and system design skills, especially for low-latency, high-availability systems.
• Experience with Java, Python, or Kotlin and AWS (or closely related stacks).
• Experience with or interest in network infrastructure (peering, connectivity) and payment processing.
• Bonus: An interest in fintech and payments, with strong cross-functional communication skills.
