Engineering Manager

About the Role: At Mighty Networks, we are hiring an Engineering Manager to lead a high-impact squad focused on payments and monetization. This team owns the systems behind checkout, subscriptions, plans, and the core infrastructure that drives transaction revenue across the platform. This is a player-coach role where you will lead a small team but are not stepping away from engineering. You will help shape how we build and scale the systems that directly impact Gross Transaction Volume.

What You'll Do

• Manage a small, high-performing squad of engineers focused on payments and monetization.
• Spend roughly 60% of your time writing production code.
• Own the technical execution behind checkout, subscriptions, billing, and plan management.
• Unblock engineers and help them make practical, high-quality technical decisions.
• Integrate and improve third-party payment platforms so they feel seamless and reliable.
• Maintain a high bar for quality, performance, and system reliability while pushing for fast feedback loops.
• Coach and develop engineers through direct feedback, and hire/onboard new engineers as needed.

What You Bring

• 6+ years of experience as an engineer and at least 1 year leading/managing other engineers.
• Strong full-stack experience, ideally with Ruby on Rails and modern frontend frameworks.
• Experience working on payments, subscriptions, or billing systems in a real product.
• Comfortable integrating third-party payment providers such as Stripe or similar platforms.
• Actively technical and currently coding, with a solid understanding of how payments work in practice.
• Clear communicator who works well across engineering, product, and business teams.
• Interested in using AI tools to improve speed and output.
