Job Description

Zscaler is looking for an Employment Counsel EMEA to join its Employment Legal team. This role is remote in London and reports to the Head of Employment Legal. You will help ensure global infrastructure and culture remain compliant and legally sound across the UK, France, and Germany, providing pragmatic advice and counsel to Zscaler’s EMEA People & Culture team on a diverse range of labor and employment matters.

What you’ll do (Role Expectations)

  • Provide pragmatic advice on EMEA employment matters including directives, privacy, pay equity, recruiting, and employee relations
  • Collaborate with People & Culture teams to ensure total compliance with employment laws across the EMEA region
  • Stay informed of evolving employment laws to proactively recommend and implement policy updates that mitigate risk
  • Draft, review, and refine employment-related policies and processes to align legal requirements with business goals
  • Manage employment disputes, litigation, and regulatory proceedings while overseeing external counsel relationships

Who You Are (Success Profile)

  • You thrive in ambiguity. You're comfortable building the path as you walk it. You thrive in a dynamic environment, seeing ambiguity not as a hindrance, but as the raw material to build something meaningful.
  • You act like an owner. Your passion for the mission fuels your bias for action. You operate with integrity because you genuinely care about the outcome. True ownership involves leveraging dynamic range: the ability to navigate seamlessly between high-level strategy and hands-on execution.
  • You are a problem-solver. You love running towards the challenges because you are laser-focused on finding the solution, knowing that solving the hard problems delivers the biggest impact.
  • You are a high-trust collaborator. You are ambitious for the team, not just yourself. You embrace our challenge culture by giving and receiving ongoing feedback—knowing that candor delivered with clarity and respect is the truest form of teamwork and the fastest way to earn trust.
  • You are a learner. You have a true growth mindset and are obsessed with your own development, actively seeking feedback to become a better partner and a stronger teammate. You love what you do and you do it with purpose.

What We’re Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Law degree and license to practice law in the UK or a common law jurisdiction
  • 5–7 years of post-qualified employment law experience with at least 2 years in an in-house environment
  • Experience advising on employment matters across EMEA, specifically within the UK, France, and Germany
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on assessing risk and offering clear, pragmatic advice

What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience working with large multinational employers with a complex workforce across the EMEA region
  • High degree of intellectual curiosity and a "can-do" attitude when tackling complex legal challenges
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to apply sound judgment to legal issues and determine risk effectively
