Director of Innovation Delivery (AI & Product Engineering)

Creative Chaos is looking for a Director of Innovation Delivery to build AI-native products. You will lead cross-functional Innovation Delivery Squads—owning outcomes end-to-end across web, mobile, AI agents, and streaming backends. You are a hands-on technical leader who can scope, architect, staff, and ship products safely at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Squad Leadership: Stand up and run cross-functional squads through the full lifecycle: Discovery → Prototype → Product → Platform & SRE.
• AI Architecture: Design and ship RAG/Agent systems; pick models (Claude, OpenAI, Llama), define tools, and choose retrieval strategies (Postgres + pgvector, Weaviate/Qdrant).
• AI Safety & Ops: Operate AI safely by implementing evals, guardrails, structured outputs (JSON/Schema), PII redaction, and cost budgets.
• Delivery Ownership: Own delivery outcomes including SLOs, quality, cost, and velocity; release with feature flags and canaries.
• Client Management: Be client-facing for discovery, scoping, SoWs, roadmaps, and QBRs.
• Mentorship: Hire and coach Tech Leads, Engineering Managers, and PMs to level up practices.

Requirements

• Experience: 8–12+ years in engineering with 4+ years leading multi-team delivery.
• AI Production: Must have shipped at least one production AI app using LLMs (Claude/GPT/Llama) backed by retrieval (Vector DB) and a basic eval/guardrail pipeline.
• Orchestration: Experience implementing orchestration using LangGraph, DSPy, or Temporal for durable workflows.
• Cloud Native: Built with modern cloud and data stacks: Serverless/K8s, Terraform, OpenTelemetry, and feature flags.
• Commercial Sense: Excellent client communication and ability to manage staffing, utilization, and SoWs.

Tech Stack (Hands-On Experience Required)

• Models: Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, Google, Open-weights (Llama, Mistral).
• Orchestration: LangGraph (or DSPy), Temporal.
• Retrieval: Postgres + pgvector, Weaviate, Qdrant, Pinecone.
• App & Data: Next.js 15, TypeScript, Go, Python, Kafka/Redpanda.
• Observability: OpenTelemetry, Langfuse, Arize Phoenix.
