Director, Architecture (EMEA Remote)

Rush Street Interactive (RSI), a market leader in online casino and sports betting (BetRivers, PlaySugarHouse), is seeking a visionary Director of Architecture. You will lead the design, governance, and evolution of the digital consumer-facing technology landscape, bridging the gap between online, social, and land-based gaming. This leader will define system-wide standards to ensure scalability, compliance, and innovation across a global platform.

Key Responsibilities

• System Design & Governance: Define and maintain the overarching architecture vision, design patterns, and technology stacks (microservices, event-driven systems).
• Scalability: Ensure all systems are built for global scale, supporting growth in traffic and data volume while optimizing latency and availability.
• Security & Compliance: Embed architectural controls for data privacy and player protection, collaborating with legal teams to meet strict gaming regulations.
• Cross-System Integration: Architect and optimize API and data flow designs for seamless interoperability between gaming engines, payments, and CRM platforms.
• Leadership: Mentor the engineering team (architects, managers) and provide strategic guidance on build-vs-buy decisions and platform investments.

Requirements

• Experience: 10+ years of software engineering or architecture experience, with at least 3+ years in an architecture leadership role.
• Cloud Native: Proven track record designing and scaling cloud-native, distributed systems (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Technical Stack: Deep expertise in microservices, APIs, data pipelines, event-driven architectures, and DevOps practices (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform).
• Regulated Industry: Strong understanding of security and compliance frameworks relevant to regulated industries like Gaming or Fintech.
• Travel: Ability to travel occasionally both domestically and internationally (25% annual travel).

• Domain Knowledge: Experience in gaming, betting, or high-volume consumer-facing digital experiences.
