Data Scientist

About the Role: Deel is the all-in-one payroll and HR platform for global teams. We are seeking a Data Scientist to join our developing Data Science team. This role aims to develop data insights from a large salary grouping, with scope to define how data pipelines will work and what statistical techniques and ML approaches to use. Most of the team's work makes it to production, delivering value each quarter.

Responsibilities

• Solve real world problems using Data Science and statistical techniques.
• Implement functionality which can be served in production for internal and external customers.
• Design, build, and maintain data sets, including data cleaning, modelling, feature engineering, and feature extraction.
• Build end-to-end data & machine learning pipelines and conduct reproducible research.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Product Management to deliver algorithmic solutions.
• Apply software engineering practices to implement research and infrastructure.

Requirements

• High proficiency in Python and its data science stack (preferably with Pandas).
• 3+ years of background and experience in data/backend engineering, ideally in production environments.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience implementing research and algorithms in Python (information retrieval, text processing, NLP, and machine learning).
• Must have hands-on experience working with SQL and strong data pipelining skills.
• Strong at applying statistical methods to data.
• A Bachelor's degree or higher.
• Independent thinker with the ability to solve problems autonomously.
